Blue Iris Reviews

New version is horrible

Twcincy on

United States

Long time user of Blue Iris, it’s always been a great program. This app this is horrible. Moved the controls around for zero reason, doesn’t flow well at all. Change the UI back to what worked, leave the back end stuff there, but fix the look and feel. It’s horrible now.

Pretty good so far

Running with BI app on an iPhone 15 and BI on an i7 desktop to view 3 IP cameras at 20 fps and relatively high resolution. Somewhat complicated for beginners. Wish I knew how to change the push notification sound. Also curious about needing to pay the yearly update charge for BI.

unoptimized ancient app

Blueiris has consumer market cornered and it shows - non responsive UI and cant load 4k video in app. the entire ui feels 10 years old. garbage app and im looking forward to the competition.

Why charge for the app???

MrWoo's on

United States

I like the system, but if we’re already paying for the software, why must each user pay another $9 for the app? Feels like a bit of a money grab. Take a note from UniFi - their app is free.

Keeps disconnecting from webserver

Cheyenne Captain on

United States

Been using it for 2 days now. Get it set up and works fine, in about an hour or so, it cant connect. Wifi and cellular service is strong. Have to jump thru the hoops of adding a new server. It then works again for an hour or so then disconnects again. Right now…. Not worth the $9.99

Push notifications require subscription

Adama31 on

United States

Push notifications only work if you have purchased the desktop app AND have an extended support subscription.

The Ideal Match for Blue Iris Enthusiasts!

Blue Iris has been an absolute game-changer in surveillance! Needless to say this app’s design makes monitoring my property simple, yet offering crystal clear live feeds directly to my phone and iPad. The customization options in this app are user-friendly, allowing me to finangle the settings exactly how I want. Definitely deserves a five-star rating!

Not worth the price

Ryku650 on

United States

App doesn’t follow general iOS design guidelines, often doesn’t select correct clip and it costs too much money for what my toddler can do better with.

Using for 1 year plus, Excellent!

I have a small sever running Ryzen 5700G, 2tb M2, 16gb RAM…etc for Blue Iris. I also have about 6 cameras connected in different fashion (POE, WiFI, USB). No issues at all from this application. It is lightweight, not tons of features which is fine, it just works. I send “critical” updates to my phone when a person is detected in the AI of the server, that works fine. Solid app.

Very reliable

Adam8810 on

This app is so reliable and consistent. My only thing I wish it had was picture-in-picture support. It has background audio but not video when you leave the app.
