BluOS Controller Reviews

Unreliable

Insectile on

Any time I want to sit down and listen to music it requires a lot of messing around. Almost never can I just start playing music. The app almost never sees the player unless I restart it or even completely re-initialize it. I have a lot of other devices I can stream music to and none are as poor and unreliable as BluOS.

Excellent player

The 2024 software updates have tremendously improved the player. The company also seemed to have adopted a more frequent update cycle. This is good news for music lovers. Encouraged by the nice software, I have recently purchased the Bluesound Node 2024 with its new chip. It sounds way better than its predecessor. Even though I have built-in streamers from AV receivers, I found myself using the Node more. As promised by the manufacturer, the new Bluesound Node now can play DSD tracks. Thank you for the nice feature. If I can make a suggestion, I would like to have an option for the player not to automatically convert DSD to PCM, so my DAC can do the conversation when connected with USB. All in all, I am very pleased with the Node software and hardware.

Brilliant & Unusable

I have been playing with the BluOS app for a weekend. In other words, what follows are first impressions. I subscribe to both Tidal and Apple Music. As a music tool to rule them all, BluOS seems to do a terrific job of consolidating streaming services. So far, all controls have worked flawlessly. Integration with Tidal and my amplifier is seamless. It works impeccably, and yet, and in comparison with the user interface of Apple Music, BluOS is an abject failure! Some of the fonts are so small that I strain to read them. Names of musicians are displayed in mouse-size font coloured grey on a black background. Having read multiple online threads for a possible fix, I’ve learned that I am not alone, and yet, the developers seem entirely unconcerned and merely deflect. On the Bluesound support page, a developer stated, “Font Size and display are dictated by your operating system.” What an outrageous dodge! This seems to be a another example of a develop who is unable to view their app from the eyes of a consumer and unwilling (or unable) to retool it. Given that the first iPad went on sale April 3, 2010 (more than 12 years ago!), it seems inexcusable to me that a current app would have such heinous optical ergonomics! Of the 133 apps currently installed on my iPad, BluOS wins the award for the worst human-iPad interface. It’s clear to me that this app has the potential to be brilliant, but for now, at least, it’s almost unusable.

Doesnt Siri on my phone and will not find device on iPad

Numerous problems

fantantric on

Canada

These are the main problems: 1. TuneIn must have some deal with them because it cannot be removed from the list of music services. This is so irritating, especially for the people who never use TuneIn because the search defaults to TuneIn. 2. When using a music service like Spotify for example, the app doesn’t always display the song that is currently playing.

Why can’t this be simple?

I just added a new music service, Qobuz, and the interface on Bluesound is very limited.
