## BoardGameGeek Description
This is the official app for BoardGameGeek, an online resource and community that aims to be the definitive source for board game and card game content. Daily new content, continuously updated by millions of passionate users, makes ‘the Geek’ the largest and most up-to-date place to get gaming information. You can become a registered member of BoardGameGeek (BGG) for free, and we welcome your contributions in the form of ratings, reviews, and thoughts on games!

BGG features reviews, ratings, images, play-aids, translations, and session reports from board game geeks around the world, as well as live discussion forums.

Here you’ll find many types of board games, including thousands you’ve probably never seen in a store. We cover not only board games but also dice games, card games, tile-laying games, and games of dexterity. We have abstracts, economic games, dungeon crawls, city building, diplomacy and negotiation, trading, puzzle games, strategy games, party games, war games, and many more. We run the gamut from the light and whimsical Carcassonne to the serious and heavy empire-building of Twilight Imperium: Fourth Edition. Well-known games like Monopoly exist in the database as well, although you’ll find almost all users prefer modern games that exhibit advancements in game play and component quality since Monopoly was first published.

## BoardGameGeek Reviews in United States

### *---- "The new twitter"
This app isn’t even a place to rate board games properly anymore. If you’re not a blue haired screamer then you’ll quickly get banned for voicing an opinion. The moderators on this app are RIDICULOUS!
-- distortedstevee, 2026-07-13

### **--- "Barely functional"
The app deletes what Im typing randomly, all by itself. Other times there is infinite lag, the words I type simply never show up on the screen. Threads ive subscribed to are impossible to find.
It is impossible to contact app support through the link in the app store. The only reason I gave it more than one star is out of loyalty to BGG, ive been a member for years.

Recently it got so much worse, its nearly un-useable anymore.
-- sick of incompetence, 2026-07-08

### **--- "No Weight Shown?"
How can you not show me the average weight of the game? This is a major criteria when choosing a game or researching it. Huge miss here.
-- SourcingDude, 2026-05-02

### ***** "Excellent for Boardgames"
As an avid board gamer, I find BGG truly critical to access the robust community that posts reviews, comments on rules, and a wonderful repository for community-created content for specific games. Overall, a tremendous resource !!
-- 5683deltium, 2026-04-03

### ***** "Mac"
Such a useful app for all things board games! Always so much new content! A tremendous source for reviews, new games, events, how to’s, blogs, community, crowdfunding, etc. I love tracking my personal game collection on here as well!
-- Me051, 2026-04-01

### ****- "Great…to a point"
For quick lookups on the go, this is better than a mobile browser, being tweaked enough to give it an app-like feel.

Read, write (some things), research, and more. It isn’t as easy as a computer, and that’s fine. This is a curated version of the site. The interface is mobile-enabled web rather than mobile front end with mobile-first choices.

It isn’t luxury so much as Craigslist, but it gets me what I need, when I need it.
-- Andrew Purvis, 2026-02-13

### *---- "New Update Causing Consistent Crashes"
See title. iPad mini 6
-- CDHales, 2026-01-12

### ***-- "Less Useful Than Desktop"
The mobile version of the app is a lot less useful than the desktop. A lot of of the features, such as a functional homepage, editing, and viewing all parts of a profile, and using all features of writing a comment are either different diminished or unavailable. One of the major bonuses of this app is that people track their board game playing statistics, but the app features those statistics differently than the desktop version. For example, the desktop version tracks the number of individual game plays, Whereas the mobile version will track game sessions. So if I play one game three times in a sitting, the desktop version will count that it’s three plays, but the mobile version will only have it show up as one session.
-- Samdpfi, 2025-12-30

### ***** "Tabletoppers Rejoice!"
This is one of the most-used apps on my phone. BGG is an invaluable resource for board gamers for so many reasons: reviews, rule clarification, news, and more. But the best part is the community. Nothing but love for this site and the app.
-- CapnMarvel, 2025-09-25

### *---- "Can’t search for games at all!"
I use this app and website mostly for searching for games. I can’t search at all with the app right now and it’s been like that after update!
-- Dornj32, 2025-08-12

### *---- "Mods Have a Power Trip"
The mods deactivated my account for simply voicing disagreement on a hit button political issue.

I never once said anything hateful or name called. I simply didn’t agree with their views and since I wouldn’t bend the knee to them, they totally deactivated my account. Terrible company if you ask me. Should not be able to just deactivate an account over something like that.
-- Lakerfan024, 2025-08-01

### *---- "Horrible Woke Moderators"
Disagree with anything an LGBTQ person says? It is labeled hateful/disruptive and taken down. The forums appear to be an echo chamber, but only because moderators make it so. They do not allow the “wrong opinions”.
-- TheAppReviewGuy1, 2025-07-31

### *---- "Lesser app and bullying better 3rd party app"
I’ve been using the 3rd party BG Catalog app which used to sync information from BGG. According to the developer of BG Catalog, BGG changed their policies and are no longer allowing the BG Catalog app to sync with BGG accounts, even though it’s not for profit. They also say that it has the same functionality as the BGG app. Too bad it’s nowhere as good as the BG catalog app.

I’m in no way affiliated with the BG catalog app, just upset with BGG for being unreasonable
-- Kevintrombone, 2025-07-07

### ***-- "Lack of search filters"
Love the site and the app works ok, but not being able to search or filter my collection by player count? And removing access to the BGG Catalog app that DID provide this? Um, what? Please rectify this oversight! I need to know which games fit the people I’m playing with, and how much time we have, not how much I paid for a game or if I have some random parts.
-- jeremyw, 2025-06-27

### *---- "BGG-Not Good"
This application and this company are not worthy of your support. With its DIE moderation, BGG practices the same discrimination that the South used to inflict a 100 years ago.
-- VamosDCUnited, 2025-05-15

### *---- "Downhill fast"
This site used to be cool. Now it’s just shoving woke garbage games on you on the front page. Who cares if games were made by degenerates? Why are we celebrating bad games made by rejects?
-- Oh it’s Lonny, 2025-05-07

### ***-- "Good app except when it stops formatting correctly"
I like this app better than the website itself. The problem is when reading forum posts on iOS there is a bug were sometimes the posts just extend like 1000% in length. Each update this gets more prevalent and is now about 1/4 of forum posts that show up in my subscribed pages.
-- Steveeeeeeeeeeę, 2025-02-24

### ****- "Not bad"
Great simplified version of the website.
Only wish I could use advanced search here as well
-- RicAg70, 2024-08-12

### *---- "I’m already logged in, stop sending me to the website to do it again."
Terrible.
-- Jklopnik5367, 2024-04-20

### *---- "Nothing is visible in dark mode"
Title ^ nothing appears besides the headers and stuff. ):
-- gmariafer, 2024-04-10
