How much does BookPlayer cost?
BookPlayer has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is 17.41 $.
I‘ve been using this app for quite a while now and it’s been great.
I load my files through Google Drive, no problems there.
I also just discovered (never came up earlier) that I can import a zipped folder with several MP3s and import/load it into Bookplayer as one big project! It still says it’s 18 (or whatever) files, but it only shows up as one! Each file is a „chapter“. This is absolutely fabulous, as I don’t have to manually convert files beforehand.
Thank you for this awesome app!! 😘
Great App Now
Update:
The has once again become stable and much better, and more usable. 1-star off for the following:
- importing audio files is still a pain, unless you’re a Techie like me, e.g. I store files on my QNAP storage server at home, and importing a folder of MP3 files is not possible.
- since I listen to a lot of audiobooks, it would be great if there was a % complete number shown at the folder level within Bookplayer, since I use that to update my book status in GoodReads. Right now, I need to calculate what percentage of a book I’ve completed based on the number of minutes of each MP3 file I’ve completed in a book folder (since a lot of free audiobooks are split into multiple MP3 files). I know a couple of my previous suggestions were implemented, so it would be great to see this implemented- it would save me some time & calculations 😆 Thanks

It seems that with every new update, this app is becoming more unstable. Developers need to do more testing before releasing new versions. The app keeps crashing, especially after deleting files in a folder within BookPlayer. In fact, there might a memory leak, as this slows down my whole iPhone XR. This app used to be very stable…not any more. Pity.
Not imported while files on the root folder in iPhone
Not imported while files on the root of the iPhone
Does what it says
Does what it says no annoying adds I wish more apps were like this. You can directly import audiobook files from Dropbox or any other software, quite easy to use
Game changer
Being tied to iOS this app opened up my old audio books and old cds - I can’t recommend it enough. Thanks for such a great product.
Not as excellent as other platform apps
Even with due consideration to iOS limitations the app could be much more user friendly. Poorly designed UI is kind of ok, one cannot expect an app to excel in each and every respect, but a simple task of importing a book is a freaking quest! I have my audiobook library on a local network available via an SMB share, and the process of transferring a book to the app storage is pathetic. First I have to copy the book folder using the Files app from the network to the downloads folder on the phone. Then I have to create a book folder in the app. Then I have to select the import option, go to Downloads\audiobook folder, select all files there and start the import process. After it finishes, I have to delete the folder from Downloads. A hassle? Definitely so. Instead of just pointing to a shared network folder and making a copy of it on the phone. This major hassle is the main reason for my 4-star rating.
Keeps crashing
Good app, but upon a big upload of multiple files and folders, the screen goes black and the app crashes. It is now unusable.
Keep Crashing
Edit: took review from 5/5 to 1/5 as it's simply useless now. Keeps crashing on OS 17.4 with the latest update.
Before last two updates, never had problem.
New update caused crashes
After updating the app would not stop crashing and wouldn’t stay open for more than few seconds. After reinstalling everything works again! Great app for organizing and reading audiobooks.
Not bad, see review
Honestly it’s better than Apple Books, simply because you can add your own content easily. I’ve just found the UI for adding and managing files could be improved. Feels a little dated.
Works well. But remember that a nice UI/UX is still very important for an app you spend a lot of time in.
