Description

Boxville is 2-in-1: an animated film and a puzzle game.

Boxville is an adventure puzzle game about speechless cans living in the city of boxes and drawing doodles on cardboards to tell the stories.
Boxville is good for playing alone to dive into the atmosphere and challenge your brain with sophisticated logic puzzles and riddles, or playing with a friend or family to share unique audio-visual experiences and solve the puzzles together.

Design
The core idea of the game is that it’s not just a game - but also an animated film that you can watch and play at the same time.
We designed Boxville’s gameplay with the purpose of taking away your anxiety and stress. You can explore and observe the world without rushing and pressure.
The game is full of environmental quests and logical puzzles that we have carefully picked from among hundreds of options.

Story
Boxville is a city of boxes populated with old cans. They live quiet and happy lives with their everyday routines and habits. But one day, unexplained earthquakes disturbed their idyll...
Blue Can (our hero) lost his best friend because of that. He started his search but it is not so easy to move through the city after earthquakes. He has to find a way to move forward, return the friend back home and discover the real reason for all those earthquakes. There are many adventures, new friends and it’s not only friends that are waiting for him on the way.
He has to be curious, inventive, careful, and to help others, to reach his goal.

What you can expect to see and hear in Boxville:
- Hand-drawn graphics — all backgrounds and characters are carefully drawn by our artists.
- Every animation and sound is created especially for each interaction.
- Unique music track was created for every scene to accomplish the atmosphere of the game.
- Tens of logical puzzles and mini-games are tightly incorporated into the story of the game.
- There are no words in the game — all characters communicate via cartoony speechbubbles.

I Quit!

Hangandsteve on

The puzzle with nine individual answers made me call it quits. I always got the first eight answers right, but never the ninth. I was so fed up with the continual dissatisfaction that I deleted the game. Thank god!

So very good but….

This game has so much going for it! It’s beautiful, charming, adorable, delightful, has endearing characters, an engaging story, and more! But there’s a tedium factor that grows as I play… for one thing there’s no ‘run’ mode to get the blue can from one place to another, and often you have to go from scene to scene to complete an action, and it’s sloooow going. Also the inventory button disappears when certain things are happening and you have to wait for it to come back to try an idea. More slow going. There’s a lot of trial and error, and this plus the slowness makes for so much waiting and tedium. Plus there are either none or very vague instructions on many of the mini games and it was impossible for me to know what was expected without a walkthrough (thank goodness for the people who post online walkthroughs!). For instance, on the ‘tower’ game - I thought the instructions were to reproduce with the red pieces the diagrams on the little poster that was shown. But no, it was something entirely different. In the fuse box game I was completely stumped on what was required and the game doesn’t help you by letting you know when something is correct, and I didn’t understand the solution even after seeing it in the walkthrough. Etc, etc, etc. It’s not fun being stuck over and over and having everything take so long. Without the walkthrough I’d be just about at my breaking point and on the verge of deleting. The walkthrough makes it possible for me to continue. Oh, and there are no hints. So four stars because the game deserves recognition for what it does offer, but it’s just not a five star game. Such a good start but needs improvement so that gameplay is more pleasurable.

Short & sweet

It was pretty short but was an ok game

Game is glitched

Ur_Mom_<3 on

I exited the game a few minutes after opening it, and when I came back some time later, it was frozen. I could access the inventory, but the little can guy was gone, along with all the other characters, and all that was left was the background. The flame glitched shortly after the “can dog” jumps down from the house. I tried closing and reopening the game, turning off my device and turning it back on, as well as deleting the app and redownloading.

BUG!!

Ajsnsn on

I just downloaded the game and now the red coin has disappeared from my inventory and I can't get the coin out of the washing machine!! Now I don't know what to do and I can't restart the game! In short I am stuck and can't get the red coin back!! What happened?? If this is not resolved I would like my money back.

Delightful and just challenging enough

I find this perfectly adorable. Completing missions at relaxing pace and putting the clues together was exactly what I needed to stimulate my brain while taking my mind off all the horrible things in the world.

Just perfect

Amazing graphics, amazing puzzles, challenging at times, but very well done. Fun and worth every cent. Thank you guys!

Great game - thank you!

Now that this game works with Apple Pencil, I could play it and I really like it! Original artwork and challenges. One of the few good point and click adventures for iOS. Too bad there is no skip or restart option for tedious puzzles.

Most like Machinarium

Love the game. Three wheels is too hard for me. There is a bug for the basket on the dryer. After using it, if you get on top of the dryer, another basket will appear and drop on the ground. It doesn’t affect the gameplay though. Please make more games like this. Thank you all.
