Description
Breathable is a free customizable Air Quality Index (AQI) widget for all of your devices, with support for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and macOS. Air quality has become an increasing concern for many people around the globe. While stressing about it constantly isn't necessarily helpful, the goal of Breathable is to provide a quick, glanceable answer to a new daily question: Is it safe to go outside?
Breathable can use AQI data from two services: IQAir.com (world-wide) and AirNow.gov (in the USA). Both of these services offer free accounts and API access for personal use. Breathable uses United States Air Quality Index values world-wide.
AQI is based on latitude and longitude coordinates and Breathable makes it simple to find coordinates for any area by capturing the device's current location, or by selecting a place on the world map. You can also search by postal code, place name, or partial or full address. Coordinates are only used to request AQI data and are never shared with Karbon or any other third-parties.
Customize how your widgets look by changing fonts, toggling various data points, and by using Breathable's Emoji Scale for a friendlier look at conditions. Customize Emoji Scale using one of our provided sets or choose your own emoji for each scale value.
Simply create your free API account(s), set a location, customize your widget, and add it to your device. API keys will automatically sync with iCloud, enabling a simple one-time API key setup across all of your devices.

Perfect for local air quality
Does exactly what I want - shows local air quality in my widgets. Working perfectly for over a year.
No longer works on iPhone or watch
I’m made sure it has a location and the api is current. I’ve reloaded and restarted. It’s always blank now. What happened? If the app is broken say so in the App Store at least.
The app does not update frequently enough
I was looking forward to using a modern iOS widget for air quality, but this app does not update frequently enough. I am still running the old-style AirVisual widget near the Breathable widget and that widget is always up to date with the latest air quality number. I have to force-quit Breathable to make it update. Please fix this.
Not working
This app was amazing but no longer works.
Broken on Ventura
Was nice while it worked but it hasn't been updated in over a year and does not work at all on Ventura on my M2 Air.
Great for anyone who wants to monitor AQ in a single location
This is an ideal use of a widget: putting vital air quality information that’s available but not easily accessible and putting it just a swipe away. However, it doesn’t help people who need to follow air quality in multiple locations. I need to monitor AQ in three locations (vulnerable family members), and it defeats the purpose of having a widget to have to go into the app to change the location every time I want to check a different location. Would love to see an update with the option of multiple locations.

Does exactly what you want in a usable, fun way. Love the emoji scales! I too had trouble with the widget not showing up in my widget list but the developer helped me solve it and responded to my email in record time! So nice that it supports not just the US too 🌏
Excellent app, bumpy start
I initially had issues getting the widget to show, but finally got it working with some help from the developer (excellent support). I'm loving this app. It is really well designed, easy to use and updates in the background.
Very cool and useful app here in LA
Nice on the laptop, too. Took a little playing around to get the APIs, apparently not the developer’s fault, though. Had to try twice to find the widget. Helpful developer!
