I once tried to pray with a printed-and-bound breviary, and I was totally overwhelmed by all the flipping, etc. This marvellous app, however, prepares the entire office, including the proper prayers for feasts and Sundays and puts everything in order on one page. Abbreviations are few, which is most useful for a beginner. Several editions of the breviary are available, including the 1960 rubrics (which can be used to satisfy the canonical obligations of clergy). Numerous supplementary prayers (in Latin) are provided in the appendix. The parallel translation is a bit tight in portrait on the iPhone, though it is acceptable in landscape. Downloads are fast and can even be stored to be prayed later offline. The display can be adjusted with respect to contrast and text size. All-in-all, this is well worth the price, at least for those interested in the traditional Latin prayers of the Church, or for clergy following the Usus Antiquior. Many thanks to the Franciscans of the Immaculate for their app!
What a wonderful way to carry around and pray the Breviary wherever you go! Many thanks to the developer.
This is a really slick app. No flipping back and forth through pages of a book, and the downloads are really fast. Everything is just there where you need it. Although parallel English translation can be configured though the settings, the small size of the iPhone screen doesn't really do it justice. No doubt it looks great on the iPad. Many thanks for making this available.
I am glad you finally finished this project. I hope you are doing well.
i’m not getting any younger and, although i do have an iPhone, it’s not so easy to read off of. I would love to put this app to use on my iPad. i wish there was an iPad version.
This Liturgy of the Hours has both English and Latin side by side to see the beautiful poetic prayers of old in their treasured original state. The prayers are the original prayers (unchanged, and unedited). This has really helped me to fall in love with liturgy of the hours due to the poetic and eloquent language used for the prayers, antiphones, and scripture passages.
This is an excellent app, and the texts are very smooth and easy to use, but I wish the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Officium Parvum Beatæ Mariæ Virginis) was on this app, considering it is available on DivinumOfficium.com.
Been using the website and phone app for ages to compare versions and pray during Lent. Can't wait to see the next update with formatting for iPad screens.
Exactly what I needed. Add more prayers to the Index!!! Also, I wish there were an Android version.
