## Brick Description
Brick was created because we believe that life is better when phones help us do more of what matters, instead of constantly distracting us with things that don't. As two young guys, we were raised on smartphones - so we decided to make something to help us use them the way they were meant to be used.

Brick is a combination of software and NFC-powered hardware that temporarily removes distracting apps (and their notifications) from your phone - leaving only the powerful tools you choose.

With Brick, simply open the app and tap your device to block all distracting apps and notifications. Until you return to the device, you'll be free to engage with what really matters - whether that be getting productive work done, spending time with friends and family, or simply going for a walk. Once you're ready to reconnect, just tap the device again to unblock everything.

The Brick app allows you to:
- customize the apps you want to leave unblocked while Bricked
- track your usage history to see your improvement as you spend more time undistracted
- contact the creators to give input for feature requests and any necessary improvements / fixes

Great app, changed life significantly, but i often still forget to tap the brick before i go out. Please make a remote bricking function so i can block distractions when im already halfway out the door. Thank you

I just received my Brick package today. I just tried to set it up and it’s crashed on me 3 times while trying to set up which is very frustrating. I get a message saying they are aware of the issue and are working on it. I do hope it gets resolved it’s not a cheap purchase and they should fix the issue before running ads to promote it. I’m hoping I can get it working it does seem like a great way for those of us who get distracted to stay focused.

It's a great solution. I used to have a flip phone but switched to smartphone over pandemic and since getting a car the gps is very convenient to have, and sadly no true feature phone supports active navigation yet. But Brick is great. Setting up the list was a little buggy and took some time, as well the seemingly arbitrary limit to 50 apps to block, are the only sticking points so far. Ingenious mechanic that takes the restriction control key physically off the device itself. Kudos to the creators.

I have tried so hard in so many ways with software tools and real world methods to moderate my screen time. And failed. Over and over again. This has been an instant success. The odd failure, sure. But overall a life-changing improvement. So grateful! 

As far as details, it does take some setup effort. And it requires you to choose the right apps to either allow or block. 

Personally I set up three lists. One blocks everything. It’s the most severe list so that when I need help putting my phone down it really, really bricks it. The second list is when I need a little motivation but I need to be able to answer calls and texts. And the third is my most used which works as advertised - it allows a lot of great tools and stops me from repeatedly checking Snapchat or Facebook or Mail apps. 

One of the reasons that it is so game changing is that you don’t have to decide over and over and over again not to feed your addiction/bad habit of checking some endless app repeatedly. You decide once and then until you physically move - like getting out of bed or off the couch - the decision remains. It ends decision fatigue when fighting screen time over use. Can’t say enough good about Brick.

I absolutely love this. Right now I’m lying on my bed using my phone and it feels like so long ago when I last did this even though I would literally do it every day. Im so grateful I’ve been struggling with phone addiction for years and this is the only thing that has genuinely worked. I constantly have to check myself regularly and notice myself still getting the urges but this has been absolutely perfect. Thank you so much

I was considering getting a minimalist or flip phone and came across this app somehow. It’s been perfect for me and my mental health has improved quite a bit within a week of using it. I can concentrate better, I am utilizing my mornings and evenings to do things that make me feel good instead of scrolling and flipping through my apps mindlessly. My sleep and anxiety have also improved, I did not realize how much I go on autopilot and use my phone for needless activities and how it negatively affected my wellbeing. I am extremely happy with this app and my friend has ordered their brick too!

Have used a multitude of blockers. This one is an excellent addition. I like that it is a physical object. 

This makes it very easy to put the phone into a lockdown mode for exactly what you’d like it, and you can exit when you choose. The physical barrier makes disabling a conscious choice. 

Have tried cold turkey and something like “email is always blocked on my phone” doesn’t work well for me. But I like being able to easily set a locked down time.

Love my brick - this product fills a need that hasn’t been done by any other app/product that I am aware of by linking your phone to a physical “brick” and not allowing you to unlock without the same physical object. All other screen time-related features (and I’ve tried a lot) allow workarounds. This one does not. Great job to the team.
