Update 1/1/25 - still no gas readings showing in the app since 16/12/24. I have reported twice, says fixed, but NOT. Really BG this is terrible service. Now down to 3 stars !

Original post - Works well and has all details needed. However, occasionally the app stops syncing with daily gas readings. Which is a pain but not majorly as I only like to check and monitor electric usage. I raise the issue and gets fixed in around 7 - 20 days, has happened twice now.

Update : I did contact them as requested and it was all fixed, great job. Unfortunately I now have the problem again, this time no gas readings showing in my app for 3 weeks now. BG service desk are on to it again. Can’t fault the customer service people at BG, they always try to resolve for you. Mostly it works, but then a few weeks or months later something else goes wrong. At least it always gets fixed.

Update 21/12/24 - yep, it’s stoped working again. No daily usage being shown. I was advised it needs syncing, that was done by agent and advised takes 24 hours. Well here I am, 2 days later and still not syncing. This is really getting annoying now.

Update to previous review. It’s been delightful to see this app develop over time. The colour coded rates and stack bar charts in usage are a great addition. The improvements to navigating with the usage data such that I’m no longer dumped back at the home screen is also a lovely fix. I’m unsure whether the bug where when I’m in the BST timezone, my usage shows as starting an hour earlier than it actually does is fixed but I’ll see come Spring. The dev team should be proud of what they’ve released in 2024 - well done.

Very disappointing that they can’t even supply usage figures in the app for even the last week. Octopus Energy’s app was much better. Will be going back to them once my Tariff is up

I just upgraded to the new version of the app. 
For the electric, thus far, it is so much better. I’m on an EV tariff and I can see what I’m being charged at peak and off peak rates (didn’t get that before). What would make this app even better for electric was to be able to see my SEG input. As that is an area that I don’t get much visibility on from British Gas - just the odd payment now and then with little info about it.
For the Gas reading however I don’t seem to get any data shown anymore. Which is odd as before on the old app I would see gas data but no electric data. 
So 3/5 stars from me. The app is making progress in the right direction for electric but still a way to go in my eyes to be 5/5.

If I could give 0 stars I would. It’s not like the old app where you can actually see everything on the app. Now you have to press a stupid link just to see how much you have on your meter. It’s jarring and long for no reason whatsoever. This app is a downgrade, normally other organisations upgrade to make things easier, not BG. They like to do things the hard way, whoever created this app”upgrade” needs to be sacked.

Cannot top up online any more, having to use my card to top up. Had no problems with previous app but this new one for days been saying please try later. British Gas 1 of worst energy providers! Had nothing but problems for last 3 yrs, several complaints gone in, but nothing changed! Poor service yet again!!!

Worst company ever. 
Gas company not responding properly. They not help for our smart meter problem. Every week we need to call British gas for top up. They not give us permanent solution. They just passing our problem to other call and not give solution. For three months we are in problem for smart meter but still company not helping and not finding solution.

I'm disappointed because they changed the app, and I kept struggling to find where to top up my pay-as-you-go gas meter. The worst part is my electricity bill—despite agreeing on a manageable amount, they increased it by four times in the third month. It became extremely expensive and completely unavoidable😢
