Ok but crashing
So I am new to BuJo. I am trying to retool how I work to be more present/productive and this seemed a great concept. Bought a journal and the app in hopes it would help me launch out well. The app is helpful in the sense you can add tasks, etc, and they're temporary to keep you on paper. Frustrating but I appreciate why it's like that. It has some resources to help you get started, but I feel like it's mostly stuff you can find on their site or on the internet for free. And most of what I have seen that isn't an article or small video is class I can also pay for if I want to learn the official way to do things. I feel like a $30 investment should come with some kind of onboarding system that is gradual and helps you get into BuJo without trying to sell me more stuff. I feel like I'll have spent the same price as an Evernote subscription before I'm done at this rate, and it's not even a system I'm fully sure will work for me. I'm still trying and still hopeful it'll work, but right out the gate I'm worried I just got talked out of $30 with little to show but an organizational foreign language project.
Needs Pencil Pro Support , for iPad Pro . Please add so I can modify this review . Thanks
I don’t understand what they were going for here, especially considering you have to pay five dollars for this app. It’s a waste of money. It’s very frustrating, in the way in that it does not deliver features like you think it should, I don’t get it. It literally goes against the bullet journal ‘ideal’ by constantly prompting you to engage with the app by making journal entries in it and not your journal. This is a miss. The resources are just links to the not very useful bullet journal websites and forums.
I’ve been using it for a while, don’t like the questions that were added each time you open; that’s not a deal breaker, just unnecessary. However, the graphic design (background color and typeface) is a terrible combination for visibility (can barely read what I’m typing if I’m indoors and almost not at all if I’m outdoors). I can’t believe anyone with any graphic design training did this
Lazy people work twice as hard. All notes disappear after 72 hours. So any notes you take you have to rejournal them in your notebook. Just make this app open for people who want an app and not to have rewrite everything a second time in a journal. I would pay more to not have this feature.
I really really love all the features! I can’t tell you guys worked hard on this and I use it anytime I’m temporarily away from my journal. I also love that I can keep a digital record and backup of my bujo here. But is there ANY way I can change the background color? I’ve been through all the settings and I can’t change it from this light blue which creates a really low contrast situation. The photos here show a nice darker green, and man I would love to be able to change the background or at least select dark and light modes. PLEASE HELP. I already need glasses, but changing the background would do wonders.
Update July 2024 This app has now become unusable for me. If I try to add a journal to my library with previous dates it simply won’t work. I pick a starting date and it’s fine. When I go to pick an ending date it locks up when I try to scroll prior to 2022. I’ve completely deleted the app several times, restarting my phone but nothing works. At this point I would recommend using a good scanner app and just scan in your notebooks. The rest of the content in the app is already available for free on the BJ website. Extra features like on the go logging have an annoying 72 hour auto delete. I understand the goal was to get you to migrate to the journal but the time should be adjustable. I would love to go for a week vacation and not have to bring my journal and risk losing it. But the 72 hour limit means I can’t use this app daily to log my vacation. I recommend using Notes, Apples built in journal app or DayOne when a digital solution is needed. Original review I really want to give this app 5 stars but it has an absolutely fatal flaw for myself and I’m sure many others. You can have journals with overlapping dates. The reason this is critical is many of us can not mix our work and personal journals. So if you have to keep 2 journals that overlap the same date period you can’t back them up. If the app would simply add the ability to have multiple journal libraries it would solve this problem.
The color and font size makes this app very difficult to use now. There are no settings available to adjust.
Background & font color (white on light blue) are nearly illegible
