BusyCal Reviews

Terrible app

Support told me I can’t add events. What’s the point of a calendar when I can’t put events in it. I’ll go back to the calendars app which is much more user friendly

Great app just add the option to display alternative calendar

Desktop calendar feel on iPhone

BusyCal, more than other calendar apps, lets me feel like I can see at a glance, what’s coming up in the next days and weeks. I really like month view and how tapping on a date expands it to see details - while still staying in month view. It’s clever. It has a ‘big desk calendar’ feel - even on a small screen. Nothing is hidden or out of sight - which gives me confidence that I am not missing something. (especially great if you have a very irregular schedule). Entering dates has become easier recently in BusyCal, too - though I still prefer entering events in another calendar app (which I use just for that purpose). But when I want to see what’s on for a particular date nothing beats month view in BusyCal. I also really like how graphics pasted into BusyCal on Mac show up in BusyCal on iOS - and they are not just a limited selection of clip art - you can put any graphics in. When I’m consulting at a company on a date, for example, I put their company logo on the date as a ‘sticker’ which makes it easy to see an important event at a glance when scrolling through the calendar.

Upon purchasing the phone version, I was not informed that additional charges for the Mac version would be required to access the app across both phone and computer platforms. This lack of clarity regarding the need for separate purchases across devices feels like a faulty promotion . Please refund ! Unfortunately, I was unable to find a direct support email to communicate this issue privately. Therefore, I am sharing my concerns here in the hope that you will address this situation promptly and rectify the misleading information provided to users.

Behind functionally…

Update to initial review: The developers have obviously been hard at work over the last few months, as the updates that have come through are really useful. Some real thought is going into making workflows easier without just copying functionality from the built-in iOS apps (long press of the today icon to bring up a date selector is brilliant, as is the long press to bring up an event type selector and drag for time period). Great work guys - keep it coming! Initial review: I started to write this review over a year ago - that BusyCal for iOS feels quite antiquated in terms of functionality and when compared with other modern calendar apps’ interfaces. Over a year later and no update to bring the app at the very least in line with other apps regarding features and functionality. It is slipping further behind. I adore the desktop app and am frustrated with the iOS version in comparison. Can we at least have the ability to create an event by long pressing a time in the calendar? Keyboard shortcuts for navigating / functionality / switching views? Long pressing the Home Screen icon to quickly add an event / task? Command T to go to Today for heaven’s sake!

Terrible. Not user friendly. Wants to sync in with other apps or emails. Don’t use if you just want a user friendly app to manually enter info. If your super tech savvy maybe this will work for you, but if you’re more after a basic calendar function try anything else!

Great

Best calendar app by far just a pity no Apple Watch app

Sync a letdown

PR Doctor on

Australia

Not bad. But syncing is so slow, sometimes non-existent, compared to Calandar and Calandar 366.

Thank you for fixing the bug

cow783 on

Update: 5 stars. The developer was very responsive and fixed the bug. Just a suggestion: is there a way to hide the “number of days overdue” on the Todo’s page? So that it looks less cluttered and each Todo row takes up less space.

Needs a widget

Good app, but in 2022 it’s not forgiveable to not support widgets!
