Way points and create routes
Accurate
Very useful for keeping routes depth !!
Loses GPS constantly
Loses GPS positioning constantly. If you switch out of the app to another app and then back, it needs to be closed down and reopened. Location is set to Always and and it still happens. Very very frustrating.
Needs new leadership
could be a great app is ruined by nagging issues that never get fixed. Doesn’t follow the vessel. Zoom function never stays where you put it. If another system message comes through the device the app needs completely shut down and restarted to continue. Always resets to the default orientation, which is usually opposite of your travel. Not ready for anything but a cool toy to play with at the dock
Glitchy
The app is very glitchy on my iPad and my iPhone. My location on the chart will randomly disappear and you need to restart the app to get it back, it also will just stop tracking and freeze in one location!! I find myself closing and restarting the app at least every 20 minutes. Not safe. Wish I had not paid for this app when there are others out that actually work!
App locks up
The app frequently locks up and won’t allow you to press the back button. Have to completely close the app and restart each time.
So easy to use and intuitive thanks!
Just a note to say this is a great back up and learning tool for my kids.
Wind not working
GPS not working, as others have posted, location does not update unless you close and reopen the app. Also, ‘offline maps’ do not work, mapping won’t even appear even though you’ve already downloaded an area, opened it and closed it etc etc. Also, the Anchor alarm does not work. This app appears dead in the water… I’d like a refund…
Professional Guidance Needs Professional Tools
As a professional running a guide service in the Inland Northwest, the importance of accurate and reliable navigation tools cannot be overstated. C-Map has proven to be an effective and valuable part of my daily operations, however, its functionality could be expanded to better serve professionals in the field. The app’s current reliance on the built-in GPS of tablets and phones can be limiting, especially for professionals like myself who depend on the superior accuracy and reliability of external GPS units. The addition of support for external GPS devices would greatly enhance its usefulness. Equally important to me, as a professional, is the ability to use NMEA data from my boat’s internal network. Incorporating the ability to utilize this data would allow for greater interoperability with existing systems, as the coordinates from the external GPS are broadcast in NMEA format. Despite these areas for improvement, C-Map continues to be a reliable app that I frequently use and recommend. I hope that in the future, developers will consider these enhancements, thereby making the app an even more indispensable tool for professionals in the maritime industry. In its current state, I would rate C-Map at 3.5 out of 5 stars, but with these improvements, I am confident it would easily earn a perfect score. Until then, I will continue to utilize and support C-Map, eagerly awaiting these crucial upgrades.
