I run a startup; was scatter brained and getting desperate. When I began using Cap, every time I thought "I wish Cap had this feature," it was right there, waiting for me. Thank you! Pros: The backlinks of Cap are unmatched. Tag system and search are powerful. Really thoughtful and involved team on board. Calendar/Time based notes ftw. Object based organization won me over (but took a hot second to learn). Cons: lesser known, newer app in the second-brain, knowledge order space, still in development and working out bugs (but customer support team is impressive and the few minor bugs don’t slow me down). Tried Obsidian, Logseq, Evernote, Roam, Notion, Apple Notes, OneNote, Notability, AmpleNote, hah wish I found Cap sooner. -- DeltaCrip, 2025-06-19 ### *---- "Dishonest Pricing" If you ask these guys about pricing they’ll tell you they did a community survey to set a fair price and they ask people to pay more than the “fair price” to support the company and then they go and jack up the price again on the App Store. $199/year? No way. It’s still in development. No student discount. It doesn’t even have an import or export tool. One example. So far my experience with Capacities on the web has been amazing. I love the concept, specifically the flow of being able to let the word vomit fall out on to the page works really well with my ADHD. And then using tags, links, and types as you go actually allows those thoughts to organize themselves rather effortlessly. However, while the web app is really strong the mobile app needs some work. Specifically, the text editing experience on iOS is filled with some pretty glaring and bad bugs. For an app that’s designed to get out of your way and let you get your ideas down on to the page, a good text editing experience should be paramount. I really love this app still. I am already a pro user because I want to support its growth. While I’d love to see more customization options like additional themes, the current light and dark modes are very well-designed. ✅ A Productivity Powerhouse – Capacities has made it effortless for me to track, plan, and reflect. It blends the best aspects of Notion and manual paper PKM, but in a far more efficient and structured way. What Could Be Improved: 🔹 Occasional Freezing – The app is mostly smooth, but there are times when it freezes. A quick restart always fixes it, but I hope future updates improve performance stability. 🔹 Limited Mobile Features – My biggest frustration is that the mobile app lacks the ability to create custom object types and templates. These features are essential for fully leveraging Capacities’ potential, and it would be a game-changer to have them available on mobile. Final Thoughts Capacities is the perfect blend of power and simplicity—rich in features yet intuitive enough that I never feel overwhelmed. It’s an essential tool for anyone who values structured thinking, deep note-taking, or creative brainstorming. If the mobile version gains object type and template creation, it will be nearly perfect. If you’re looking for a fast, flexible, and beautifully designed PKM app, this is the one to get! 🚀 -- JJ_0099, 2025-03-23 ### *---- "Zero Support for Different Font Viewing Sizes" Capacities is completely dropping the ball on accessibility features. There is no option to change the note text size, so if your eyesight isn’t perfect, this app isn’t for you. They don’t even take advantage of the standard iOS or iPadOS built-in system accessibility options. So it feels like Capacities just doesn’t care about accessibility. If you want to see a great example of a well-implemented accessibility text size adjustment, see Bear Notes and Craft Notes. They do it really well. If you want to see mediocre implementation of font size adjustments, see Reflect, Supernotes, and Agenda. All of them offer text size adjustments, but they go from really really small to really small to still too small at the largest. It’s lazy, and therefore impractical, implementation. Capacities, stop spending your time on more and more “features” for your comparison charts, and get the core functionality right to begin with. Eyesight is getting worse worldwide due to mobile phone usage, so you will have more and more lost customers the longer you wait to implement this core functionality. -- Evilkow, 2025-03-03 ### ***** "Great Second Brain with amazing potential" I love the app and am a “Believer” because of how much I love it. I am a software developer and am already well underway creating projects and linking them to notes and people and such, and I have tons of ideas on more I want to do with this app. There are, however, a couple things that I’ve found I can’t do the way I’d like to: 1. Being able to modify objects on the mobile app and the web would be extremely helpful as I’m not always near my desktop when I want to do this. 2. I haven’t found a good way to create recipes. I cook for my family nearly every day and having a recipe linked to ingredients with a table that has units of measure which I can then link to shopping lists and so on would be amazingly helpful.
