It is not only the best wargame ever made for iOS, it is also one of the best wargames ever made for computers period. It is based on the outstanding solitaire bordgame “Carrier” from 1993 (which has a daunting 70 pages of rules and is very complex). This app-ified version is a tremendous gift to those of us who love the subject matter but never had the time to learn or play the boardgame. I would definitely recommend this for any of those who enjoy playing pacific theatre games. -- jimmybiscuit82, 2023-06-26 ### ****- "Incredible Game, A Few Little Asks" I must say, I personally believe this is by far the best WWII naval simulator on any mobile platform. No PvP with a single ship on one map, no unrealistic placement of ships from opposite sides of the war in the same fleet, just a single or two player game where one can sit down and enjoy possibly up to an hour or so of realistic combat, where even one little air strike can set all your plans up in smoke and there’s the constant pressure of wondering where the enemy is and quite possibly what the enemy has. There are definitely a couple things that could absolutely make this even better though. For one, a couple late-war scenarios would be nice. Things like the Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf could be pretty neat to experience, especially as the Japanese-changing history in one hard-fought battle is a really neat idea in my eyes, especially that kind of difficulty that would make for a fantastic experience, sitting down and maybe having to play the scenario several times to figure out how to take advantage of AI responses to your actions. Also, a custom mode-I would love to be able to take a lot of the ship classes from the war, choose a map to play on (say, Midway, Guadalcanal/South Pacific, Philippines, etc.) and put together task forces from both sides to see what happens. It would be really neat to be able to go beyond history and create what-ifs in the incredible engine that exists already and see what we can do with it! Overall, amazing game, one of my absolute favorites, and I look forward to what may lie ahead for it! Also love seeing active devs that actually care about their game, it’s a rare sight in naval games for mobile platforms and really refreshing to see! One or two player modes and game handles fog of war as you plot your recon and air strikes. Japanese have longer range but are fragil, US air units shorter range, but tougher. I played it extensively, tried to like it, but it had too many unrealistic features. This permutation of the game is for the players who want to understand the deadly, unpredictable nature of WWII carrier warfare in the Pacific. You will not know the results of your attacks. I was told Japanese carriers had sunk in my Eastern Solomons game---several times. Each new raid by my aircraft showed they were still afloat (after the game was over I discovered two did sink). Were my "pilots" seeing things or had the Japanese carriers not sunk yet? Now you have to deal with time allocation. Every aviation preparation task on the ship costs time, such as loading weapons onto aircraft, launching aircraft and recovering aircraft. Large raids take longer to prepare and longer to launch. You must learn to think like a carrier admiral. Try your best, and fate might have Dauntlesses waiting in the sun, and your carriers are doomed. Chance plays a very important part in carrier warfare in 1942. This is is not move and shoot. If you don't want extra detail, you do not have to use it. The features are optional. This is a great learning tool. It is also a great play experience, albeit nerve-wracking.
