Description

Get the ski app the Sunday Times is calling “a game-changer”. This brand new ski tracking app will take your skiing to a whole new level.

As you ski, Carv will measure your max speed, average speed, distance, descent, number of runs, number of turns and more. Carv then generates a detailed activity map with performance data from your day on the slopes.

After you’ve tracked your day on the mountain, compare your stats with friends and family. Think you’ve really got what it takes? See how you stack up against professional and Olympic skiers with Carv’s leaderboard.

To really take your skiing to the next level, connect the app to the Carv smart ski boot insole for real-time audio instruction. Carv uses advanced pressure sensors to see exactly where your skiing technique is lacking, then immediately tells you how to improve as you ski. Carv is the world’s first ski wearable with real-time audio coaching.

Best bang for the buck

Awesome value and just the tool to improve

Great idea, inconsistent data and results

MC_MisterE on

I love the idea of this technology. Setup was relatively easy. My issue is that the results it gives you back don’t seem to track with reality. I’ll do turns exactly the same way over and over and sometimes it says I did it right and other times it says the opposite. During active coach, it’ll say I didn’t do a turn correctly and then “ding” saying I did one right when I’m not actually turning at all but just skiing straight. I wonder if the problem is that my boots and feet are very large and the sensor just isn’t big enough to cover my whole foot. I can’t think of any other reason why I would get wildly different scores while doing the exact same motions on the exact same run. Also, it seems to want you to have ideal conditions on an impossibly long slope with no other humans around. But the reality of skiing is that there are other people constantly in your way, ski runs are pretty short before you have to stop or maneuver in some less than diserabke way, breaking your streaks.

Great program

Second time new on

It gives me tips that make me consider how I am skiing not just focusing on how much or how fast . I am thankful each season for the Carv difference. I was finally dropping back onto my skis and really feeling like I had better technique today after skiing for thirty years without getting to that next level. Thank you Carv

Worth Every Penny

lditz on

I have been skiing for decades. Investing in Carv has eliminated some old sloppy habits, and increased my confidence on the black diamonds. On days when I don’t feel ambitious, turning on “ski coaching” gives me instant feedback on form and gives me goals. It’s a great addition to my skiing satisfaction.

Non-responsive support

Chanh.ski on

The product was great initially, but unfortunately one of the battery/tracker packs failed. After a few exchanges with Customer Support via the app, they diagnosed the issue with the unit and confirmed that it needed replacement under warranty. They sent me a link to a form for the replacement process. Things took a bad turn. Despite my efforts, I couldn’t access the form. Trying to contact them again via both app and email, I have received no response after more than 12 hours. CARV came with an expensive subscription. Worse, my ski days are becoming rarer while costing a lot more. Getting more out of my time on the slope is the reason I bought CARV. Their lack of communication after the diagnosis of hardware failure is very frustrating and baffling. It seems the company is not able to handle warranty issues efficiently. This is too bad since CARV was fantastic when it worked.

So Far, So Good, but Plenty of Room for Improvement

Superflymd on

Firstly, my skiing has definitely improved since I started using Carv. I’m happy my wife bought it for me, and I’m going to continue the subscription for now. If this review seems harsh, it’s because I believe in what Carv can do and can become. Hardware: The insert is impressive. I wish I’d had it when I bought my last pair of boots so they could have been molded with the insert in mind. The “brain unit” is a little bigger and bulkier than I would like and, unfortunately, my boot straps are too wide for it to clip on. My boots are somewhat unusual (Roxa R4s) so I can’t really blame Carv. I just clip it to the tongue loop and make sure my ski pants keep it covered so it doesn’t flop around. Pairing is easy, but if you don’t put the right brain with the right insert (and left with left) then you’ll have to recalibrate every time. I finally marked one so I know which is which. Use: The app is definitely focused on groomed/piste runs. If I do a groomed blue I get much higher scores and the advice the app gets is more applicable. The second I get in powder, trees, or bumps, nothing the app says applies to the slope I’m on. I did find a groomed black (rare in my region) and the feedback seemed to be pretty relevant. The GPS tracking/run map is wildly inaccurate at my home mountain (Wolf Creek, Colorado). This was not as true on my recent trip to North Star in Tahoe. User Interface: The voices all sound like they were made by 1980s vice synthesizers. I can’t believe there’s not something that can sound more natural by 2024. The audio is always quieter than the music I am listening to, so it’s difficult to hear if there is anything else going on around me, even if I pause my music before the Carv audio begins. Carv really needs a Watch app. Part of the tracking process is inputting snow conditions for every run. By the end of the day I frequently don’t remember what each run was, especially since I can’t trust what run the app thinks I was on. I don’t like to take my phone out on the lift. If I could just make a couple of quick taps on my watch on the lift after every run, it would be much better. I’d also love a Watch display of my metrics for the previous run or for the day so far. Incidentally, it would be great if I could input conditions once for the day and have it apply to all the runs unless I change specific ones. Overall, I’m not dissatisfied, and I can’t wait to see the changes in store. Please focus on perfecting the basics before adding

100% effective

This product is 100% effective at improving your ski carving technique. It was bought for me as a Christmas gift and I love it: I use it as much as I can. Thank you CARV for a wonderful product.

WOW!

Two seasons of using CARV has changed my skiing significantly! I am sooo glad that I purchased it!

Just brilliant

Og wild on

Carv, become a better, safer, aesthetic skier; your level does not matter. It’s a ski instructor in your ear, feet, and phone. It will make you stronger on groomers, bumps, and steeps. I have never enjoyed skiing as much as I do with Carv.

A Coach in Your Pocket

Will72. on

I have been using Carv since it was a start up and highly recommend it. The developers have improved the sensor insoles (I broke some of the earlier versions but not ones from 2022/23.). The algorithm has improved. Studying which metrics to measure and how to word instructions so that more people understand has been great. Having real time support and support that could check the sensors remotely has been amazing. Using headphones to get instant feedback is really helpful. Inventing new games and challenges keeps me interested. There are some ruts that I can fall into, but having a local coach or sending in a video of yourself skiing fills in the gap of information from the sensors. The online videos fills in even more. While the app isn’t designed for moguls or ski racing, both of those come from solid fundamentals. And the fore/aft monitor can raise awareness of balance in the bumps. Turn shape can also be used in the moguls sometimes, because making some of those turns round will create control and save lots of energy. Ideas for the developers? A phone reminder that I will need to recharge the trackers for tomorrow.
