***Check out our website for device accuracy information: http://quietart.co.nz/catchinsync ***
Catchin' Sync is a utility for video & audio professionals and enthusiasts alike.
In most video playback or monitoring situations different codecs and display types as well as hardware cause a delay between the video signal and the audio signal.
Catchin' Sync helps the user to determine amount of sync delay between video and audio devices.
Catchin Sync can also be used to measure the distance of a sound making event (bouncing ball, lightning etc). This free version includes a sample video for demonstration purposes. You'll need to purchase the Full Access to enable video recording to use in your tests.

Great app, but needs update on latest iPhones.

Please update with latest hardware!

Wow, fixed my 3 year issue in 5 mins

Ok, I was annoyed at $20, but oh man is it worth it. UI could use work and the slider bar took a min to understand, but it gets the job done. I’ve been dealing with a sync issue ever since I replaced my TV and receiver, never got the timing right. 5 mins with this and it fixed my issue instantly. 100% recommend to anyone having sync issues.

Amazing!

I never write reviews, but there’s not many for this $20 app. Saved me SO much timing calibrating lip sync on my new receiver. Read the instructions to line up video and audio and it gives you the extract millisecond offset! Love it.

Great app for syncing home theater

Prescient63 on

My home theater does quite a bit of audio processing and my TV has an unknown amount of input lag. This app helped me sync audio and video quite quickly. It is an expensive app for what it is but I didn’t see any obvious alternatives.

Invaluable A/V sync tool

Have I been using this app for the full nine years it existed? Yep. Have I pitied Android users who cannot use it? Check. From the same company that brought you stellar time-saving tools like Waverider and Defaulter, this app isn’t just a must-have, it’s an industry changer. Simple and effective, anybody working in post-production who isn’t aware of the necessity of sync confirmation can get lost. These guys make it easy. Do yourself the favor and acquaint yourself!

App crashes

It crashes every time I try to choose a video from my library.

Great idea

This app is a great idea. But it’s very hard to slip the audio in small increments. It would be better if sliding your finger back and forth moves slower for better precision.

Garbage rip off App

This is barely an app ...especially if you paid the 19.99 for it. It’s just one screen and you cant save your videos or send or even listen while editing. GARBAGE SCAM. I want my money back!

Absolutely essential for home theater buffs

If you want you get your audio sync with your home theater just right, this is the app for you. I’ve learned I can’t entirely trust my eyes when calibrating A.V. sync, and those little discrepancies add up over time and can indirectly affect your enjoyment. The price may seem a bit expensive but honestly for how accurate it is (within only a couple ms in my tests) compared to professional tools it’s incredibly worth it, both for the improvement to your home theater and for your own piece of mind knowing your stuff is set up properly. That being said, the app shows its age and could use a little work in some areas. The directions are a little convoluted (I didn’t even know how to play a video I recorded - the obvious solution was to tap anywhere on the screen) and require a little bit of extra calibration at the beginning since you need to set the inherent lag for your device manually after checking their website for the correct value. It also isn’t optimized for modern devices, with stuff on the edge cut off by the “notch,” which looks pretty bad but doesn’t impact the utility. In the end though, this is the most useful app I’ve ever bought. It’s made my home theater better, it’s made my friends’ home theaters better, and I’ve learned a ton in the process. A few bonus tips: After calibrating the inherent device lag, be sure to test it first by recording a video of your hand tapping on something (preferably reflective) and making sure the wave spikes match up with the exact point you make contact. This should make you confident that this app does what it says. Calibrating distance adds ~1ms for each foot away from the source. This isn’t really necessary for home theater stuff, unless you’re setting up an outdoor theater. Grab a Spears and Munsil Benchmark Blu-ray or UHD and use their A.V. sync tool for best results in a Blu-ray player. YouTube also has videos in various quality you can use (such as one called Lip Flap), but keep in mind that calibration will be based on the source (that is, if you calibrate based on a YouTube video, your sync is going to be a bit off on a Blu-ray with the same settings). It’s impossible to get a one size fits all A.V. sync solution due to different sources all containing different amounts of lag. For example, Dolby True HD is anywhere from 10 - 40 ms slower than DTS Master Audio, and upscaling a 1080p Blu-ray on a 4K UHD player can add another 20 ms or more to your sync adjustment.
