Very broken system

Emeline Marin on

I’m visiting from NSW. In NSW, we have a single vendor for all bottle refund programs. This is the first point of frustration with the Victorian (Melbourne specifically) program. 3 different apps for 3 different vendors? As someone who doesn’t live in Melbourne, I downloaded the wrong app twice because finding information on which app to download for what area is not readily available without trial and error and searching. Why make it harder for the public? Completely unnecessary and easily fixable. Secondly, this app doesn’t accept PayPal as a payout method. Unsure why. Thirdly, the app is buggy. I sometimes have to tap a button multiple times before it works, or I sometimes have to close the app completely for the buttons to work. Fourthly, the machines on Mackenzie St in Melbourne didn’t accept any of our bottles. We checked the app to make sure our containers would be accepted. The machines showed the message “Remove container; Container type not accepted at this time.” The machine was specifically there to take plastic bottles and cans. Either the machine is wrong or the app is wrong. I can’t tell which because of how faulty this system is. UX/UI is desperately needed. I can’t believe what an absolute mess Melbourne has made of this program. It hasn’t even succeeded in its most basic premise for us. Hopefully others experience better.

Can’t even sign in.

Sign in button doesn’t work. No options to sign in or register online. Completely useless app.

Security overload

MrKistic on

Australia

The app does it's basic functionality well enough but seems to have an over zealous Vic government security system that constantly logs me out between uses. I just want to scan a barcode for eligibility but I'm forced to log in even to do that. But then it also demands that I change my password at some unknown interval so now I have to change my password just to log in just to scan a barcode. There's no state secrets here, I just want to see if I can return a bottle!

Just pay us cash

Why do we need another crappy app just to return recycling? And why do you sneakily try to give us nonsense vouchers instead of cash? It shouldn’t let you proceed until you’ve entered your bank details, and you should be able to convert the nonsense vouchers into a bank transfer. No one is downloading this app to get vouchers. If we wanted vouchers they get printed by the machine.

Melbourne West app has more functionality - why not North?

MissIncorrigible on

This app is incredibly basic. It lacks live information about the vending machines and if they are working. The app for Melbourne West has this feature. Ridiculous that each area has a separate app.

Deleting app due to the collection machines are constantly out of order so I quit trying to me a few lousy dollars and wasting fuel.

App good, like to see new improvements and features

The app works fine with me, the only I am getting is that it signs me out randomly, which I need to resign in again. I would like to see a new UI of the app as I saw how the East and West side looks and they look better. A new feature I would like to see is added Apple Wallet feature, where is have my barcode while having other necessary info like user name, app name and if it is North, West or East, so that we don’t have to always open the app, especially those who lost access to their account but the account is still active and all that.
