Celestron SkyPortal Reviews

Dear devs

This an incredible app and I love it but tonight i noticed that the Big Dipper is flipped horizontally showing Polaris at the “bottom” relatively speaking when it should be at the top. Just something I noticed.

Pros and Cons

Zacharrie on

Canada

I like the “Best Tonight” feature, and some of the search and navigation options, but I cannot stand that the app design hasn’t been updated since the iPhone 8. It doesn’t fill the screen, and even in low-light-vision-preserving “night mode” it leaves the time/battery/signal strength full white at the top.

Transforms stargazing

Pathmeister on

Canada

This app is amazing! Linked to the telescope by Celestron’s SkyPortal module, it leverages your smartphone’s GPS to seamlessly enter location, time, etc. so you can be stargazing within seconds. With a touch of the finger, you can get the scope to effortlessly slew to all the targets you want to see, and to quickly go back and forth to compare, say, two different globular clusters. While observing a target, this app allows you to listen to an audio description which really enhances the viewing experience.

Great app but a suggestion

Bank-e on

Canada

I really love this app and absolutely love celesteon telescopes but I have a suggestion for the app, if you could please add the positions of the starlink satellite train and maybe even have an option to show the path all visible satellites are taking so people trying to take photographs can better plan out there night, I think it would make this app even better ! For anyone looking for an app that shows you the night sky and the position of all the planets, stars and more, look no further this app is the way to go !

Time of day off by 3 hours

Gxs256 on

Canada

The App shows Jupiter and Saturn below the horizon at my correct time and location when I can clearly see them. If i advance the time by 3 hours they are correctly shown. A competitor App shows them correctly

No Deep Sky Objects

The Orca/Owl on

Canada

Just downloaded this app to reinstall for the 4th time because no deep sky objects show up. Come on guys, this is a deal breaker and very sloppy product maintenance. Fix this problem now. It is imperitive in order to be able to properly control my EDGE HD8. There is no excuse for this error!!!! No more stars until this fixed!
