This app has trained my ear and improved my music composition , so fluid so intuitive and amazing with great music to learn with. If anything I’d like to train to more exotic music like middle eastern but there’s more than enough already and is not lacking in any way. Thank you guys! Genuinely
I really wish the tonic root wasn’t always C!
I think this must be made by like one or two people who are genuinely passionate about music and this app. There’s no ads of any sort. They have a built in suggestion feature that they actually use! I noticed a bug on an exercise and they fixed it the next day! Whenever I feel like I’ve completed all of the content, they add new content and features. The developers are super active. There’s something fresh once a month. I use this app to feed my adhd itch instead of mindlessly scrolling social media. And its the best, I am actively improving in all musical facets. I’ve never even reviewed an app before but my experience has been so positive, I couldn’t help myself. Catch me on the “Tones” leaderboards, “J-List on Spotify”
Fellow music game fans and/or musicians: I had the most pleasant phone game/app experience. It’s called “Chet,” and it’s a great app full of features with no ads and no charges for anything; but even better is the direct involvement with the developers—more on that later. As a gamer and amateur self-taught “musician” I had been looking for a fun way to get some more traditional music skills, and found Chet (link to the iOS app in comments) Ostensibly for ear training, the production quality is top notch. Their musical samples are varied, often astonishingly high quality covers of popular music, show tunes and videogame music. There’s a good difficulty curve to the “learn” mode, which is structured like a standard phone game with sequential levels and a 3-star rating for each completed level. The “practice” mode, however, is what really shines, with very specific goal-oriented exercises that work for learning music theory and chord memorization as well as ear training. Many of the exercises will also allow you to to sing or play an instrument into the phone to complete them if you don’t like the on-screen keyboard or would like to incorporate your vocal or instrument practice. This is especially good for practicing scales. However! Now I must tell you about the wonderful Interaction I had with the developers. Last week sometime the app asked if I would be willing to talk to the developers about my use of the app. This was novel enough that I accepted the invitation and yesterday had a long zoom meeting with a delightful young flautist who told me they were also a tester and performer on the music samples in the exercises. I had no idea these samples were original recordings for this app, a fact that makes the music variety even more delightful to me. We spoke at length about the different things you can do with the app that I had not thought to try and I felt like my suggestions were welcome. In all, I strongly recommend anyone who likes music games or maybe is a musician who would like a fun new practice method to try this app now. We need to reward honest attempts to provide quality solutions. In a world where everything is another match-3 game or filled with ads and microtransactions, it’s refreshing to see such a wonderful thing emerging from the morass of buggy and unsatisfying apps.
Can't believe this is free.
