Struggles with Jazz chording
When the bass is playing a moving line and the chord doesn’t have a root, it will create a passing chord that doesn’t exist.
Inconsistent beat markers in 3/4 time
Update: it looks like it’s handling 3/4 correctly now! Thanks. Star rating has been increased. Original: Songs often switch between 1 beat per box to 2 beats per box and back again. As near as I can tell, this happens mainly with blues shuffles and/or 3/4 time. Examples: Everyone Loves an Outlaw’s I Saw Red and Rihanna’s Love on the Brain constantly switch between 3 beats over 3 boxes and 6 beats over 3 boxes. —— Keith Urban’s Blue Aint Your Color starts out as 6 beats over 3 boxes, switches to 3 beats over 3 boxes on line 3, then back to 6 beats per 3 boxes on line 5. —- Chris Stapelton’s Tennessee Whiskey and Ally Venable’s Broken and Blue consistently show 3 beats per 3 boxes until near the end. In Broken and Blue, a few of the last measures show 9 beats over 3 boxes. —- Please come home for Christmas by the Eagles switches up beat boxes and pacing a lot. And Darling Lorraine by The Knockouts seems way off. —- The inconsistent display switching back and forth within a single song, sometimes just for a single measure, is very distracting. ———————- Another bug: sometimes the little wiper that slides across the beats disappears for one or more measures. Personally, I prefer the view without the wiper and would like an option to permanently turn it off. But either way, coming and going during a song is distracting.
Constant Crashing And lag
No it’s not my new 2023 IPad Pro M2 chip by the way. I’m very disappointed with this app. It has so much potential, but with the constant crashing it sucks….
My go to song practicing app (still after 2 years!)
Update (two years later): Developers really listen to our feedback! Still subscribing and use app everyday in my guitar practice. I suggested to developer if they could add fine tuning so we could tune improperly uploaded videos to 440 and sure enough less than a year later the feature is now in the app! Amazing! Update (a year later): Wow! I have since subscribed to Chord Ai. While the app was excellent when I first started using it, the developers seem to be constantly improving the algorithms and adding new features! This app does the job of what use to take 3 or 4 apps to do and then some. And it does it better. Pitch and tempo algorithms among the best of heard anywhere so far. You can change the pitch and tempo separately, add capo positions, pull lyrics from audio, loop positions, print chord charts, translate audio into midi files, and now they added separating the parts into stems that can be remixed within the app! All of this can be exported into various formats. Within app you can pull YouTube, Spotify, local files, Apple Music etc. Crazy! It’s the ultimate practice tool and cover song exploder! Original review: To my surprise, the free version is very useful. Excellent algorithms for chord identification. So easy and fun to use. Through the app browse to a YouTube video and outcomes the chord charts laid out with the correct tempo . Hit play and the chord chart follows the song! Genius! Works with your music library as well as Apple Music.
Seems useful if it worked right
I can’t change the tuning to piano, I select it and it goes right back to guitar, no matter what I do I cannot change the instrument, I have pro as well, there’s no where on the app to contact support about this either , or to contact support at all, seems leaving a review is the only way to get this through that there is a bug that needs fixing. Still will give a high rating because it does what it says it does, just not as well as it could if this were fixed.

The real deal
No more wading through all the false interpretations on the internet! Plus you can get chords for arcane songs no one’s posted. Transpose at will and change the pitch to learn the vocals in your key. Swipe through chords to get a multitude of variations. I’ve written 5 apps, enough to appreciate the care put into this app and its versatility.
Don’t know what happened
I would be giving this 5 stars but out of nowhere the past week it just gives me an error message any time I choose to try and open a song to have the app do its thing. I don’t know what happened because it’s never given me any trouble before this week. I even tried upgrading for “unlimited YouTube and SoundCloud access” with hopes that would change things but it didn’t. Hoping this is something that can be fixed.
