## Chordology Description
Chordology - Chords and Scales, Beautifully Visualized

See music. Hear music. Understand music.

Chordology is the cleanest, most colorful way to explore chords and scales across all your favorite instruments. Whether you're a beginner learning your first shapes or a seasoned player digging into theory, Chordology turns abstract music concepts into something you can see, hear, and feel.

EVERY INSTRUMENT, ONE APP

Browse chords and scales for:
- Piano
- Guitar
- Bass Guitar
- Banjo
- Ukulele

BUILT FOR THE WAY YOU ACTUALLY PLAY

- Custom tunings: set up any tuning on your stringed instruments and see every shape update instantly.
- Capo support: dial in your capo position and view chords exactly as they'll sound.
- Multiple finger positions: for guitar, bass, ukulele, and banjo, swipe through every voicing up and down the neck to find the one that fits.
- Hear it instantly: tap play to hear any chord or scale rendered authentically on your chosen instrument.

GO DEEPER THAN SHAPES

Every chord comes with rich musical insight. Explore qualities like brightness, darkness, and consonance to understand not just how a chord is played, but why it sounds the way it does, and how to use it in your own music.

AN INTERFACE AS BEAUTIFUL AS IT IS USEFUL

Chordology's signature color system gives every note its own identity, so patterns leap off the fretboard and keyboard. The clean, bright design keeps the music front and center: no clutter, no noise, just clarity.

Pick an instrument. Choose a chord or scale. Press play. Start exploring.

Download Chordology and see your music in a whole new light.

## Chordology Reviews in United States

### *---- "Not Accurate"
The app shows various minor chords as major chords and vice-versa. Do not use this app for learning chords.
-- jeffdjones67, 2026-05-11

### ***** "perfect chord reference app"
Super intuitive and convenient to use. All the other apps require scrolling and searching through huge lists of chords but this one gives you everything you need and you just combine them to build the chord.
-- owoflux, 2023-10-25

### *---- "Not A Universal App"
I like the variety, however the usability is lacking here.
The iPad version is basically a small iPhone UI with borders stretched to the edges to make it seem full screen. You have to pinch your eyes or hold the iPad closer because it’s hard to see and harder to use.
The main point of having an iPad version in a music app is to use the extra screen space and processing power. Right now it’s just a lazy effort.
-- AmirGhiasi, 2022-09-26

### ***** "Beautifully designed app"
Interface is beautifully minimal, and easy to understand. So many chord apps are clunky or offer so many options that they’re indecipherable. This has the perfect balance and is eminently useable.
-- mr chairboy, 2022-07-17

### ***** "Fantastic Tool"
I can say confidently that this is my favorite chord app on the AppStore. It’s clean, looks good, and is super helpful for looking up stuff like jazz chords. It’s been great for when I have to look up a chord for the guitar or piano,
However,
I’m primarily a five string banjoist, and I would be overjoyed to have a five-string banjo added as one of the instruments available. I’ve been trying to get into the more modern/jazzgrass type stuff on the banjo, and having a chord catalogue like this for it would be tremendously helpful.

Overall though this is a great tool and learning aid, 5/5

### ***** "Excellent"
I have this on my iPad and Mac OS. Excellent way to get a look at different chords in key while figuring out progression and alternate fingerings. The clean and minimalist look make it easy to stay focused and not get distracted. Thanks for making and keeping it updated!
-- aGreatDay78920, 2021-09-11

### ***** "I absolutely love this app"
This app has everything you need to find chords. 5/5 stars.
-- c0conut5, 2021-03-28

### ***** "Amazing app for chord and scale reference"
Highly recommended for piano at least, which is the instrument I play.
-- Sirmudkipz, 2020-11-02

### ***** "Good stuff"
I use this to find sus chords on the guitar. Gets the job done nicely
-- gopplet, 2020-10-09

### ***** "☝🏾🙂🎹👍🏾👍🏾"
[“ i have it on my 💻 ipad & 📱 & to be honest even though i’ve studied music theory i dont know what i’d do if it were not for this app. very easy to use. i recommend to others all the time”]
