It’s an amazing app but due to its size and quality it is tough to run.
This is a wonderful app especially for those interested in Vancouver history. I wish the story continued but it provided a fascinating snapshot of post war Vancouver. I had no problem playing this on my iPad Pro so perhaps the problems identified in other reviews relate to memory or bandwidth issues.
zoom into hogan’s alley and repeat. endless loop. very sad
Beautifully made but the screen turns black too often... an update is needed so I’m deleting the app... too bad I liked it
I’ve had this app for a few years now, and on my iPAD Air2 using iOS 10+ (Not 11+) it worked pretty good with minimal interruptions. Though it’d occasionally crash either after selecting either of the two story lines, OR just as you’re puttering about, it can DIE! This app has SO MUCH potential, and it’s extremely accurate as far as building layouts are concerned, especially the old, second Hotel Vancouver that the hotel story is based upon. It does a great service to the old (second) Hotel Vancouver (the first one burned down in the late teens or early 1920s, which was built on the very corner of Granville Street and West Georgia Streets, across from Birks Jewlers (now Scotia Tower) and NOT the current hotel, two blocks away on West Georgia and Burrard streets), which was originally a CN hotel that was unfinished because of bankruptcy, at the same time they tore down the original one). It was such a SUPER COOL building unlike anything before it, replete with gigantic 6’ moose heads adorning the perimeter, just under the roofline, which have all been lost to the wrecking ball. So bizarre and utterly fantastic a hotel in it’s design, there has NEVER been anything like it, or even close since. Even interior shots are exceeding rare to find, and the artist has got all the details just right, NOT an easy thing to do with limited archival documents or pictures left today. The only thing I’d like to see, (aside from a much needed iOS 11+ update BADLY needed), is more levels/floors to explore, like the rooftop balconies and rooftop gardens. Not to mention other details unique to the structure as well. I know I’m going to be contacting the NFB to see exactly what their plans are with respect to this incredible app. I never got tired of touring about these two interesting story lines through the app. The personal stories are taken from actual personal accounts from the past, as well as personal letters from real individuals who actually stayed there. One last thing: FIX THIS THING A.S.A.P. ! (I’ll be waiting with baited breath . . . .)
super cool app but it crashes so often :(
immersive and beautiful
In the middle of the 3rd story and it crashed. Moral of this app is that cops were criminals I guess. Everyone knows that cops have been and continue to be organized crime syndicates. Nothing new here. Delete!
My new iPad crashes as soon as I select my story option. I tried both, multiple times.
