Encryption and Password Protection:

* Uses the open source, encrypted database engine SQLCipher for all data storage
* The encryption used is 256-bit AES in CBC mode
* Master Password key derivation uses 256,000 rounds of PBKDF2 SHA-256
* Every encrypted database has its own random initialization vector
* Every page of storage has its own random initialization vector and HMAC protection
* Hardware-accelerated using CommonCrypto for speed and reduced battery consumption
* All sync data is encrypted with a completely random Sync Key

User since conception!
Codebook has been my saving Grace from having to riffle through all my papers, passwords, healthcare records, dates, names, anniversaries, birthdays, 
Etc…
My passwords are always encrypted and very hard to remember. The only thing I have had to do until these newest updates is copy & paste the passwords to my codebook, where they belong.
It looks like they have figured out what I need, making it work seamlessly!
Worth it!

I’ve been using this app for several years and it has been reliable and very useful. Now there are options for SYNC methods, but local WiFi remains! The few times I’ve needed support, usually after a hardware or software upgrade, it’s been quick and from a real person. Highly recommend this app.

I’ve been a Codebook user for many years. I updated my MacBook and iPhone to the latest Codebook 5 version. The desktop version on the MacBook can no longer sync to the Codebook app on my iPhone. The Codebook app on my iPhone still lets me sync to Codebook Desktop on my MacBook at least so my data is preserved that way. If I was to loose, or upgrade my phone, I could not sync or restore data to a new iPhone from the Desktop version of Codebook. There is probably a work around, but a major update should go smoothly without me having to redo the sync setup process. The whole reason I use Codebook is because I don’t have to store my data in a “cloud” server where it can be compromised.

Longtime user on Mac, iPhone and Palm. Codebook makes good password hygiene practical and plays well with Google’s and Apple’s password management. I use it as secure storage for passcodes, serial numbers, any sort of private account information. With good habits it’s easy enough to synchronize through Dropbox or directly over WiFi, but an optional subscription to the automatic cloud sync service keeps multiple devices synchronized with basically zero attention. Updates have always been regular, customer support through a monitored user forum is quick and courteous. Zetetic is doing it right.

I have been using Codebook since 2010. It is intuitive, easy to use in managing usernames and passwords. Codebook security is easy to understand and use to maintaining privacy of my accounts.  I also really like the ability to sync with my MacBook Pro. Both Codebook on the iPhone and Mac integrates seamlessly when going to a security website, and allowing you to auto fill or select from different accounts saved on the app. Zetetic technical support is the best I have experienced. They are responsive and knowledgeable. I have and continue to recommend Codebook to family and friends.
