Better than most if not all
Simplicity is its superiority. Very nicely designed. It is user friendly and rich in content. I have happily had a printed version for many years. This is a great compliment.

Quality definitions from a trusted name in a bespoke, well designed and inexpensive dictionary app.
Poor definitions
Inferior definitions to their free online dictionary. The online one is very good and I was hooting for the same content but with offline access to definitions.
Great content, very good software
I have tried several reputable dictionaries on the iPhone. This is my favourite. By contrast, although The Oxford Dictionary of English app has very high quality content, that piece of software is poorly designed and full of advertising, even though it's the most expensive by far. This Collins dictionary app is my favourite. Not only is the written content good and the software highly functional and easy to use, but the audio package that comes with it is of very good quality, unlike others I have tried.

Great app. Easy to use and wildcard function is very helpful for thinking about final words to finish off my morning crossword. Also, no internet connection required which is helpful for the train.

What can I say, this app is simply brilliant. It has a really impressive number of unusual words that other dictionaries don't and the app itself is really quick and easy to manoeuvre around. It is outstandingly clear with a good selection of scientific and technical terms, as well as biographical, historical and geographical references. This really is the must have tool for any budding wordsmith or crossworder. I highly recommend it!
