I really like the features in this app - I’ve been wanting an app that has a built in script feature and this one has one that’s very easy to navigate. I’m also beyond delighted to have easy to use comic building assets to my disposal! There’s possibly everything I want in this app!

I’ve been using Comic Draw for years. I guess a thing I’d like is if you had a suite of guides around how to achieve desired effects, like: if you want this type of brush then tweak these parameters etc. and the colour palette is a little hard to control - you can end up deleting your colour and then not get it back.

This app is very confusing when it comes to the pages and lettering. Half of the time the lettering option never works, and when it does it’s very confusing to figure out. Now, I’m trying to make a manga on this app, and I was very happy when the app had a manga option for the page sizes. But when I go to lay out the pages, it’s just in the order of a regular comic. There should be an option to make it back to front, just like how a manga is.

I’m all for apps having subscriptions, but this app takes it to far. To the point where they might as well make you pay to download the app, because that’s a better option. You have to pay to make a comic. Why??? It makes no sense. This is literally an app for drawing comics. Just make your users pay to download the app! I am thoroughly disappointed. Do better. I do not recommend, unless you wish to pay £8.99 a month just to be able to draw a comic.

This is a graphics program that’s streamlined for comic creation, with just the tools I need for layout and developing line art in sequential drafts. For a more painterly I’d finish this art up in something like procreate, but for laying out multiple pages and doing all but the final art this is an intuitive, well thought out, streamlined program.

I have been using this app along with Procreate to create comics for an independent project. Comic Draw definitely has the better tools for text I am so impressed and I love the grouping for sketch/ink/lettering. I’m still learning the app in its entirety and already feel I got excellent value for money.

You can also export projects directly into procreate if you so choose

### ***** "You can do amazing things with Comic Draw......but....."
I’m a professional artist using this app for over a year. It’s capable of creating the highest quality artwork and that fact alone makes it stand out.
My criticism is that even with repeated use, some of the functionality is tiresome and often unintuitive.  I won’t get into specifics but I have quite a list of irritations which you will discover no doubt. This has a tendency to create a steeper learning curve than necessary and the feeling sometimes the UI is obscuring the creative process. 
If you can look past this, Comic Draw is great.
(I may add a list of things to watch out for if I get time)

I am upgrading this app to 5 stars. It’s worth it

I was drawing a comic page and when it came down to the speech bubbles it was kind buggy so I went to update when the update finished I noticed the page I was doing had been completely erased nothing was there except the speech bubbles I did before the update

The app needs something like predictive stroke like in auto desk sketch book and the line art feature in procreate that allows you to colour your line art without leaving the drawing and add more brushes for manga creation that’s all the app needs to be perfect

### ***** "Doesn’t work for family sharing."
Bought this on my account in order to try it out before letting my kids use it.
However it does not work with family sharing as stated when downloading.
I’ll look for something else that doesn’t require me to pay three times.

UPDATE: now have the school version and the kids can use it on their iPads. They are 4yo and 7yo, they love making Super Mario and Captain Underpants comics. The tools are a little advanced for them, but they are able to follow along with me and after a little guidance can use it by themselves.
Great customer service by the developers.

### ***** "Great mix of layout and drawing app"
I needed something that was a mix of InDesign and Photoshop for my comics. This does the job really well.
I love the way they do separate sketching, drawing and lettering sections. I didn’t think I’d sketch on my iPad but have ended up doing so because it’s so easy using comic draw.
I also use Procreate and its pretty easy to switch between the two. I can sketch in comic draw, export straight to Procreate and then save my file as an image and put it back into comic draw for all the lettering and layout of separate pages.
The panelling is pretty cool too. I like the way you can slice up panels.
One feature I’d love to see in a future release:
- Export without the trim (right now I have to move art into photoshop to crop it which is a bit of a pain).

I live in the UK and have been using Comic Draw for over a year now and I love it. I have other drawing apps but I haven’t been using them as this one does so much. Stick with it, read the instructions, ask for help if you need it, it is well worth it. Check out the companion app comic create where you can share your creations with fellow artists. Fantastic. I use it all the time.
