This app will trick you into paying an 87$ « verification » and then refuse to give you a refund. I now am stuck to take legal actions while travelling to get my money back. My friend who booked at the same time did the exact same mistake. Avoid this app at all costs.
Used to be popular from what I’ve heard about 5 years ago. If you go on, you’re immediately bombarded with a non-optional “Covid-donation” and then they force you to pay without clear terms or information for a membership. I was charged over $80! When I kindly requested my refund I was given an extremely rude response. Not couch surfer friendly! Also just checked and they are trying to charge an additional $19+ a year as well to maintain the membership? Even though the $80+ was supposed to be lifetime? Stay away from these scam artists!

Great app and concept! I’ve met so many cool ppl through couch surfing, and stayed with them in their central places in cities (which is my preference). I always read people’s reviews before requesting to stay with them, and it works well!!!
I wish CS could add the following features - Where the guest has stayed as many CouchSurfers move around and host in all their places they have been (for example I have welcomed guests in 5 different cities) - the number of nights the guest has stayed - possibly to update a stay when you host in case your guest shorten or need to stay longer. - a rating with stars Other than that the app is great even if it crashes sometimes. Love you

I would say Couchsurfing is one of the best life experience of my life. Thanks a million guys to create this amazing platform to connect the global community.
Look at the better business bureau website. They scam people all the time and refuse to give back their money. Be weary of this app and their website, they do not care about the community or what their doing. They only care about money! Find other websites or apps that are more trustworthy. DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE
Teribble app. Location sharing is not accurate. Notifications are not working. Address look up is horrible.
They tricked me with a $87 charge, which is UNAUTHORIZED. I didn’t agree to pay it. And when I asked for a reimbursement, their excuse was a no refund policy. I sent them the email immediately after it was charged, didn’t use their service, and explained that it is an UNAUTHORIZED charge. After multiple emails, their stubborn answer was still the same and they stopped replying. All I did was enter my card number for “Verification”. It didn’t mention any charges. Then whoop, a charge of $87. Unauthorized! Please give them 1 star to spread awareness of this scam. I’ve seen here multiple similar cases as well as on reddit. Most importantly, don’t provide your card number to those scammers. I will be initiating a dispute through my bank and I know my bank will get me my money back. Such a shame that a nice concept was converted to scams. I will be getting my money back. Justice always prevails.
