Be aware of the “verify by card” scam. It’s common for sites to verify users by card and reserve a small amount without ever withdrawing money. They make it seem to be just like that, but then withdraw 50€ without wanting to refund, all in all a fraudulent scam company.

I used the app far before they added a paywall. Due to the paywall it really feels like a ghost town, I mean there are a few people here and there in hangouts, but it just isn’t flourishing as when I first used it in 2018. Please consider removing the paywall, and instead funding your app through ads, then the paywall can be more like an “upgrade to remove ads” kind of deal? Because even if 30€ per year to use this app is low, it’s quite expensive if there aren’t that many users.
They charge a non-refundable £51 for verification…

Couch surfing and hosting is a great way to meet locals and other travellers. I also use events and hang outs. Thanks CS team for keeping CS alive for so many years. ❤️
420 DKK / $63 USD / £47 to verify your profile on top of having to pay a subscription; just to use the app!? …what a scam! Also as others have mentioned; the hangout section is pointless and doesn’t work as intended. Also the community seem to be declining as well, many dead profiles, most people haven’t signed in for years. This app really needs a new administration / management, whoever is currently in charge seem to be poisonous for the app and the community.
The idea of CS is great, but the iOS app is buggy and unreliable. Hangout system is weird and doesn't work as intended. Moreover, covid and the resulting paywał introduced by CS totally killed the community. The app is like a ghost town, full of unused, out-of-date profiles (why would anyone pay if they just want to host people!) It's a shame what's left of once-glorious Coucgsurfing.
I cannot get past the login page. I’m met with a request to support the app, where I can choose between contribution or log out. For someone who just downloaded the app, I want to see the content before deciding to give a COVID-19 support contribution.
