Curated Sudoku Puzzles

Published by: Nick Carney

Description

OUR NEWEST PACK – CLASSIC VOLUME #2!
Classic sudoku is where it all began, and there is still lots of skill to be deployed to solve classic puzzles, and new techniques to be explored.
Nikoli, the Japanese puzzle house, named and popularised sudoku from 1984, and we have commissioned 20 puzzles from them for this Classic Sudoku 2 app. We have also created 20 ourselves, and sourced 20 more from Sam Cappleman-Lynes, the brilliant British sudoku expert. The result is a wonderful 60-puzzle pack which will delight and challenge you.
--------------------
Welcome to the brand new Sudoku app from the most popular Sudoku channel, Cracking The Cryptic.
Unlike other Sudoku apps, we feature handcrafted and curated puzzles from the world’s best Sudoku constructors. Each collection features puzzles made by various authors that are now familiar names to those who follow the channel. Authors like Phistomefel, Clover, Sam Cappleman-Lynes, Christoph Seeliger, Richard Stolk, jovi_al, Qodec, Prasanna Seshadri and of course, Simon and Mark!
Downloading Cracking the Cryptic will give you access to our first free collection – a variety pack by Prasanna Seshadri featuring 7 puzzles inspired from our previous Sudoku apps; Sandwich, Classic, Chess, Thermo, Miracle, Killer and Arrow Sudoku. We also have purchasable packs designed for all skill levels and featuring many unique variants not seen previously.
We’ll be releasing more free and paid packs in the future so keep an eye on the app for more Sudoku content from Cracking The Cryptic!

Cracking the Cryptic Reviews

amazing puzzles, terrible hints

23FO on

Netherlands

I love the puzzles, they are designed well, fun to do and absolutely worth the price. My only problem is with the hints: they are written by people so good at sudoku that they completely fail to communicate the logic to people not yet familiar with it.

Really fun and varied puzzles

Intrinzine on

Netherlands

And it gets regular updates

A lot of hints contain errors

Wast of money! on

Netherlands

Unfortunately many hints are not correct. With wrong column and/or row references. Furthermore some hints make big leaps in the thinking process. Like do A and the follows F. Steps B to E are not explained. I expected better hints. Not everyone is an expert!

Good value for money

Peter Veenis on

Netherlands

Very good value for your money. A lot of hours of fun for just a few bucks. I am almost through all of them. Only criticism is that CTC can improve on the hints, they are not always accurate.

Great update!

Algymaster on

Netherlands

I love the update. Now finally more coloring options and an experience in line with the web app.

Finally, one app for all the sudokus

Ljordas on

Netherlands

Finally cracking the cryptic has made 1 app for all their amazing hand crafted sudokus. Much better to pay a few euro’s to get all the amazing puzzles, without having to download an app for each and every one. Only the hints could be a bit better, but loving the app! Hope to see an update where I can put in all the apps I’ve previously bought, and combine/upload them in this one app.

Complicated hints

Delater on

Netherlands

Sometimes hints are incorrect or weirdly described (without explanation). Coordinates are sometimes wrong. The games are very fun, but there are only 7 to play for free. The game itself is well designed.

Puzzles are good, hints are almost always wrong or vague

He henchmen on

United States

In so many puzzles, there will be a hint such as “r2c8 can only be 9”, and if you go to input 9 into r2c8, it’s just flat out wrong. Probably around 40% of the puzzles, I would say, contain uninterpretable typos, including mislabeling cell positions (saying r5c6 when they mean r6c5, or saying r5c6 when they mean r4c6). Additionally, even many of the clues that aren’t just fully wrong are still vague and unhelpful, assuming leaps of logic, causing me to get to the point where I just have to abandon many of the puzzles because there’s nowhere left for me to make progress. And then I don’t have enough stars to unlock new puzzles, so I often just have to manually put in random numbers until I fill out the grid of one puzzle so I can finish it and unlock new ones.

Hints Are Pathetic

icloud_rusty on

Just a horrible experience from top to bottom. Would not recommend.

Less than “free” app.

KiHarder on

United States

It’s made intentionally difficult to play without paying for level packs. There are some free packs at the very bottom of the list.
