I've been using Cs as my go to music player and it has replaced the Apple Music app on my Home screen for 7 years and counting.

It is perfect for playing your local library with all the sorting and playing options you could want. For me, it is sorting albums (and thus songs) by artist in release date ascending.

If you do have an iTunes/Apple Music library it will happily display and play that too, if you want.

It is a nicely polished and enjoyable app and a big thank you to the developer, Mike Clay, for maintaining it all these years!

Highly recommended.

The interface is amazing. Straight to the point and easy to navigate, which is how it should be for those of us who still maintain a local library of music. I really hate the bloat in a lot of music apps these days. The latest version is awesome, highly recommend and thanks to the developers for maintaining an app like this, despite streaming being the most popular method for music listening.

Looks like I’ve just wasted my money. I got this because it is supposed to work with your personal collection not Apple Music only. Developer: Unlike VLC for example it does not appear in the Files section when I connect to my Mac. How do you add music you own? That’s what the reviews of this app say it is for. Angry and disappointed.

This is a pretty good app. It does what it says it does. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and am generally happy with it. What prevents me from giving it 5 stars is the lack of ability to download songs from within this app. You must go to the apple music app to do this. And also not being able to show only downloaded songs/ albums/ playlists. This would be very helpful when i’m travelling and have to watch my data

Revising evaluation as I was complaining about missing features of swiping to add to next up play list and it’s back with latest version...

The main feature I now miss the edit next up play list feature; I can understand why it was removed a long time ago, but I still miss it... a way to clear the next up playlist other than adding a song (and all the following songs) would be nice as I often do not resume play of the next up list after a pause as now feeling for another mood of music. Having to go to apple’s music app to do so is a drag...

Other than that, app rocks as it easily beats apple’s too focussed on streaming music app in usability and beauty.

Apple ruined their basic iOS music player app when they used it as a gateway to sell their streams and music downloads at the expense of a streamlined user experience to simply let you play music files you have on your device.  Cesium came along and fixed that.  
But these last 2 release versions freeze and crash just about any time I load up a track to listen to.

Caesium version 6 is completely trash with the removal of the ability to see all of the songs by a single artist in a list and has instead restricts it to a per album view. 

Might as well just use the Apple Music app now and save your self the download space.

I opened the app for the first time and let out a sigh of relief. I could easily sort by albums/artists/songs/etc on the bottom tab with the click of a button. Sorcery. I literally forgot how much music I owned because the native music app has become so terrible and useless that's it's been years since I opened it. I'm currently enjoying my old favourites, my heart is full, my shoulders unburdened, and I'll definitely be tipping. Thank you!
