Description

What is Curby?
Curby is a fun, secure and rewarding collection solution that helps you to collect new recyclables from your home keeping it out of landfill.
The process is simple: collect authorised materials in your CurbyBag and, once it’s full, tie the bag tightly and attach a CurbyTag. Scan the QR code on the Bag and then put the tagged bag inside your regular yellow lid recycling bin for collection.
The materials collected through Curby will become a valuable resource for use in manufacturing other products, chemical recycling and energy production.
After a successful trial with 2,500+ households, we are now rolling out the Curby Program to 1M Australians.
Anyone in Australia is welcome to register a future interest to join the Curby program.
What does Curby collect?
- Soft Plastics
- Coffee Capsules

Curby Reviews

Company gone under?

YoungKirks on

Australia

I haven’t had a customer service response in many months, so I suspect this company may have collapsed like REDcycle.

Still Wouldn’t use if I had a choice.

I have rerated this app down as NONE of the issues raised OVER AND OVER AGAIN have been addressed. I am not a new user. Give me an express scanning option. Why have a support “option” when no one EVER answers queries. And I’m sick of the childish graphics. Who do you think ensures soft plastics are binned correctly? No children in my household. All the stuff below still applies. This is a very clunky app. If I weren’t committed to trying to keep soft plastic out of my rubbish I wouldn’t use it. There’s a question facility in the app but no one bothers to answer questions so it’s pointless. Every time you use it you have to work through pages of information and instructions even if you have been using the app for ages. There’s a pointless point system not related to anything and the app can suddenly make you reregister even if you are an established user. Wish they would introduce an express scanning system. If they did I could put up with the other pointless bits.

Very clunky and seems only to be designed for first time users

As per the other reviews - there is absolutely no need for a detailed description of how to use Curby and multiple clicks through just to scan each time, I’ve scanned tags about 50 times and having a ‘new user’ experience every time gets very stale. Additionally, having to verify an email address every time the app decides it’s going to sign you out (seems completely random) is infuriating and unnecessary- there is no data associated with the app that needs to be secure - all you need is to have an address and recycling bin in a participating council

App no longer works

Failed do gooder on

Australia

App used to be cumbersome to use, took many tries to scan and Curby it. Now, it simply does not work. Contacted for help, twice, each time got an auto reply acknowledgment with a case number and nothing else. Disappointing!

Useless

App does not work on my iPad. I can’t get any further than the home page. Have deleted the app and reinstalled it. Totally useless. I’m still placing my plastics in the recycling bin with a Curby sticker attached but am unable to scan the sticker prior.

App works fine but please streamline

arronicus on

This app does the limited thing it is intended to do very well. The thing I dislike about it is that there are so many clicks and screens to go through before you get to scan - especially if you take a wrong turn (which is very easy). An experienced user should be able to just start it and scan. I also agree with the other reviewer - the points system is stupid and juvenile although I doubt the majority of your users are. So,4 stars for functionality and 0 for design.

Not scanning

I’m not able to scan my recycling which is frustrating. I have re-downloaded the app and still no luck. The app will also not open on my iPad. Emailed them about it around 10 days ago but no acknowledgment of it.

I love using this service but the scanner no longer works which is so disappointing. I’ve tried the tips you have mentioned to try & resolve this but nothing works. The scanner opens but won’t read any of the QR codes I have.
