Description

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria, updated annually on April 1, are used by commercial motor vehicle safety inspectors to identify critical violations that render commercial motor vehicles and/or drivers out of service until the condition(s) can be corrected or fixed.
This app contains the out-of-service criteria, inspection bulletins, real-life photo examples of vehicle and hazardous materials/dangerous goods violations, access to the CVSA Learning portal for online training, inspection procedures, operational policies, inspection and educational videos, brochures and more.

CVSA is comprised of commercial motor vehicle safety officials and motor carrier industry representatives. Its mission is to improve commercial motor vehicle safety and uniformity throughout Canada, Mexico and the U.S. by providing guidance and education to enforcement, industry and policy makers.
The North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria is updated annually, effective April 1 of each year, with the release of that year’s edition of the handbook.

Loading Handboos

Since the new update, I have not been able to open any the handbooks. I get a loading handbook message, and it never moves past that screen.

Paid for nothing

I paid 24.99$ for the 2022 manual and I can’t access it, the app says I still need to pay. I checked my email in case a pdf was sent there. There’s no pdf. There is also no help or feedback option within the app. I’d be willing to change my rating once the issue is resolved.

Did not work

I paid the 24.99 for the 2021 OOSC, it showed purchased, then showed downloading. When it was done it asked my to purchase it again. I work in this field and use the hard copy all the time. I just figured you know, technology. It can be useful. Well I restarted the app after it asked me and it showed I had to buy it still. I restarted my phone and again, I had to buy it so it stated. I contacted apple who hopefully will be able to return the 25$ I spent on something that just didn’t work. I don’t know if it’s a update they need to work on with the newer iOS or what but there’s limited options for support in-app. No way to try to restore purchases and apparently a so basic that It doesn't download correctly. It does however get that money from your account regardless.

Typical government service

I’ve been trying to get a password reset for a week with no response from the ever vigilante CVSA. This is not a one time buy app, you’ll have to pay every year to get updates. Surprisingly this is a very well put together app, which make me wonder how many billions of dollars in government grants it took to do this.

App won’ allow me to log in

I was able to successfully set up an account and login and view all the material after purchasing. But after logging out, I cannot log back in with my credentials and it seems to be very wonky.

Wow! After few weeks of almost everyday updates they “fixed” their constant crushes.... They finally fixed the “buy” button. It now brings you to “double click” and your face recognition, and suggesting the price of $24.99... Wait! I already bought this version of 2019 for the same price last year! You morons wanna charge me every year for the same version year I bought it earlier?? I think it’s illegal for such type of application! I need my money back, or give me access to my previous purchase!!! Your new blitz around the corner! Give me access!!

Even after the update today, 7/10/2020, the app just crashes and I can’t see the 2019 OSS either. I can log in but it doesn’t know that I’ve paid for it. 🙅🏼‍♂️

Excellent Tool

The IPAD application is a convenient tool that simplifies the OOS manual. The pictures are great, but some need updated. I wish the 2020 edition would be released. The cost is a little steep.
