Dark Reader for Safari

Dark mode for every website

Published by: Dark Reader

Description

This eye-care extension enables night mode by creating dark themes for websites on the fly. Dark Reader inverts bright colors, making web pages high contrast and easier to read at night. It perfectly suits system dark mode.
The app includes multiple beautiful color themes. Choose between dark mode, colored, dimmed and screen shader themes, or create your own by tuning background and text colors. Enable or disable the extension for specific websites, auto-toggle based on system dark mode preferences, or activate dark theme detection to leave already dark websites untouched.
Dark Reader's algorithms have been developed since 2014 by experts in the web development industry and evolve alongside modern web technologies to deliver fast and reliable dark mode support.
Dark Reader doesn't show ads and doesn't collect any data.
Before you install, disable similar extensions. Activate Dark Reader in Safari preferences. Enjoy browsing!

Dark Reader for Safari Reviews

Perfect

Installed this and it works for both Safari on phone and on Mac. So far no down sides - it just works and everything seems to look good. Haven’t had to make any tweaks from default install.

Great, but disappointing

Solid extension. I love that you can create your own colors. However, you can only make one custom palette, and it's erased when you pick one of the premade ones. My impression, before trying myself, was that all the presets in the screenshots could potentially be user made. I also hoped that you could specify a specific palette for individual websites that would be remembered next time you visited. This combined with multiple custom palettes would be sick. So if you're reading this devs, Dark Reader is pretty cool, but the option to make multiple custom palettes would take it to the next level imo. Especially if you could also define individual (custom) palettes for each website you visit.

Works like a charm

I would like, if it could figure out that a website (fx GitHub) already has its own dark mode, and then let it do its thing. Other than that, works exactly like you'd expect it to work. Good value for money.

very good extension, stupidly expensive. 5 stars if this was $1 instead.

Thanks!

Comparing to its PC Browser version (i.e. Windows Edge, Firefox, Chrome etc.), this Dark Reader has many drawbacks. When I ask Doubao AI (web) to demonstrate some C++ code, this Dark Reader turns the codes as well as the codebar into dark colour alike and I cannot claerly see the codes, while such problem has never appeared with the PC version. Why your PC version is free and iOS is paid, while iOS lacks so many functionality (like contrast settings and so on) comparing to PC, and even with so many compatibility issues and BUGS!! It is strikingly hard to believe, that such a FAMOUS software, with THREE-year-history on the App Store, could have done a poor work in development and maintenance, and turns out to be an INFAMOUS software!! 脸都不要了!

Essential for power users

I was exposed to this app on Firefox and gladly paid for it on Safari. Protects the eyes allowing for better iPhone/iPad/Mac at night. Would never go without it.

Seriously love this app.

I have been a major fan of Dark Reader extension for years with all my Windows Linux Browsers. I am trying to switch to a Mac and found I was required to purchase it for Safari, was going to try purchase a different extension for cheaper price, but before I did purchase that extension I learned I was also going to have to purchase a second one for iOS and iPadOS, but with Dark Reader I could purchase it once and it carried to all my other Apple devices. That alone made the decision for me. $4.99 one time or $2.99 for each platform…. That means they charged me $6 for something I could get for $5.00. I highly recommend this extension, sometimes it may screw-up, but so does it with those other extensions, at least this gets updated regularly.

Great accessibility tool
