## Dark Reader for Safari Description
Dark Reader is an eye-care Safari extension that enables night mode by creating dark themes for websites on the fly. It inverts bright colors to make web pages high contrast and easier to read. Dark Reader integrates seamlessly with system dark mode.

Adjust brightness and contrast to match your display and ambient lighting. Enable dark mode on every web page or give websites a sepia tone. Select from multiple color theme presets or create your own by customizing background and text colors. Enable or disable Dark Reader for specific websites, automatically sync with system dark mode, or detect already dark websites and leave them unchanged.

Developed by the original creators of Dark Reader. Since 2014, we continuously evolve alongside modern web technologies to deliver fast and reliable dark mode support for people sensitive to bright light.

A single purchase includes access to the macOS version (Safari browser) when using the same iCloud account.

Comparing to its PC Browser version (i.e. Windows Edge, Firefox, Chrome etc.), this Dark Reader has many drawbacks. When I ask Doubao AI (web) to demonstrate some C++ code, this Dark Reader turns the codes as well as the codebar into dark colour alike and I cannot claerly see the codes, while such problem has never appeared with the PC version. Why your PC version is free and iOS is paid, while iOS lacks so many functionality (like contrast settings and so on) comparing to PC, and even with so many compatibility issues and BUGS!! It is strikingly hard to believe, that such a FAMOUS software, with THREE-year-history on the App Store, could have done a poor work in development and maintenance, and turns out to be an INFAMOUS software!! 脸都不要了！

I have been a major fan of Dark Reader extension for years with all my Windows Linux Browsers. I am trying to switch to a Mac and found I was required to purchase it for Safari, was going to try purchase a different extension for cheaper price, but before I did purchase that extension I learned I was also going to have to purchase a second one for iOS and iPadOS, but with Dark Reader I could purchase it once and it carried to all my other Apple devices.
That alone made the decision for me.
$4.99 one time or $2.99 for each platform…. That means they charged me $6 for something I could get for $5.00.
I highly recommend this extension, sometimes it may screw-up, but so does it with those other extensions, at least this gets updated regularly.

I’ve been using this extension on desktop for years, and it’s one of the best out there. The iOS app is no different. It does everything very intelligently, by not only inverting the background but also dimming some content like buttons and header images/logos, but without affecting actual pictures on the content you’re reading. All the little tweaks it does add to the experience and make it so that you almost never have to disable it due to something not looking right. And the extra color modes like Sepia and the dozens of others are super fun and make browsing a breeze. Highly recommended!

I noticed that the desktop extension recently got theme presets including Dracula. iOS/Safari already has presets but none of them are Dracula. In addition, specifying a custom theme is inadequate because there is no place to enter a hex for the color. Can a hex input field be added?

I use Dark Reader on Chrome on desktop and it works extremely well and I rarely have any issues with website formatting. That’s not the case for the iOS version, and very often I'm stuck with a white background and white text on a website, making it completely unreadable. This puts sudden strain on my eyes at night time, and it’s not something which I can look past. The main function of this app is semi broken.

Extension has been good to me for a long time but it’s been getting more and more buggy so it was time to switch. Esp since the updates haven’t been as timely as I’d like to squash those bugs. Won’t advertise what I switched to (sorry for anyone out there wondering), but look up safari dark mode and you’ll find plenty of good options. I will say I paid a few bucks for the new one I picked, and it’s been worth it.

This app has been broken since iOS 17.4 came out. A good developer would make their app compatible AHEAD of such a major release. A decent developer would at least fix their app within days or maybe 1-2 weeks of such a major release. This app has not been updated for months. It no longer works. Don’t waste your time.
