This App forces me to cede control of my phone!

Jasonhyfrydol on

I’m new to the app and system, and thought I’d give it a try. My problem with this app is that it forces me to cede control of my phone to Dexcom. It has a critical alert feature that plays sounds that I CANNOT TURN OFF! I cannot have my phone bleeping at me, when I’m in court proceedings, or when I’m in rehearsal or performance of the various classical musical groups I’m with!!! If I turn off the critical alerts, the app refuses to work! If I turn off notifications all together, the app stops working. I feel like I’m being held hostage by this app! Gross! I can feel my phone vibrating, I DO NOT need sound!! What about deaf users, huh? Get your effing act together, or there’ll be a class action lawsuit for taking control of people’s phones.

Warning!!

aceananda on

I had a couple of malfunctions when traveling, and in the past, I simply had to reinstall the app. When I tried this in Thailand, even though I was able to login with my password, it would not let me reinstall the app because my location did not match my residence!!

App lets product down

Narrbc on

Don’t reinstall the app if you’re out of your home country, even if tech support asks you to, because you’ll have to create a new account for whatever country GPS says you’re in - I live near a border and can see how big a mistake it is. I was without any readings for a day because I didn’t have time to get a new account - with a new email address, and now I’m getting readings in the wrong units because the foreign country it made me create an account for uses different units? The app has no way to switch. Contacting support or getting help through the app is terrible and their iOS devs decided to make it that way: it doesn’t use the apps’ account info, fill in contact info from keychain, or even sensor details it already knows: even searching for help in the G7 app will bring up G6 articles because the app sucks. Setting up the app can get stuck in parts of the unskipable intro because it doesn’t let you tap next, but tapping for the text version allowed me to scroll down and hit next. One day a few weeks after an iOS and app update the app decided my iPhone was broken out of jail and gave an error. It’s a stock phone and their developers are bad if they think a sandboxed app has any idea.

Doesn’t support Dark Mode

Tim O2 on

It’s 2024 and Dexcom still doesn’t support Dark Mode. Come on, this is basically a flashlight app at night.

Better than the G6 app

Corzan on

This has more information and is better laid out than the G6 app. I especially like the way you can add a finger stick reading as a calibration indication directly from the main screen. Finally they’ve added widget support in Canada — finally — so it’s now almost great. It’s the only option if you have a G7 so learn to love it I guess.

G7 is fantastic

Argyle66 on

I gave it 4 stars because it’s the new year and we were told they would make it possible to go from G7 directly to watch without an IPhone nearby. Has happened with no potential date. This will be a game changer as watch ALWAYS in range. It’s not suggested but I have always worn it discreetly on my thigh. Always hidden in shorts, bathing suit etc. no issues and completely accurate compared to blood glucose readings. Switch thigh to thigh each 10 days. Also I always apply the new G7 sensor as soon as I get the grace time period warning. Then when the old sensor officially expires. The other one has been on 12 hrs and accurate at start up.

Not compatible

koko_u20 on

Why isn’t this app compatible with the latest iOS update? I keep trying to open the app but it just closes immediately :(

Could not get past signing in

Kahuna2 on

I could not get past signing in. I mistakenly use the incorrect email. It will not allow me to change the email address or even go back. So far not a very good start. Time to delete.

G7 Sensor + App review

Reviewer73009 on

Accurate readings after the first 24 hours but immediately after it’s warmed up the sensor gives me very low readings (something the g6 never did) which can be frustrating when im sleeping and the alarm goes off. I do appreciate the overpatch and change in application reduced any bleeding compared to the G6! However the app itself does need some work, my calibration has been “in progress” for 2 days now and similar to other reviews, dark mode would be amazing especially at night

G7 is a huge upgrade

wew veryyyyyy good game on

Honestly the smaller size was such an improvement. I could now sleep on my side without it stabbing me. Oh and the alerts they’re amazing heck I was surprised when people wrote a bad review about the alert system. On the G6 I hated the fact it would buzz at me after I had treated a low or high which was really frustrating and annoying. With the G7 however it was peaceful knowing that it wasn’t too loud or too quiet.
