Good
The food and especially amount of vegetarian options is great. However their freezer packs usually leak, and the goo won’t come off of anything.

I have been receiving Dinnerly boxes for about 3 years. I tried one other service for a few months but came back to Dinnerly pretty quickly. I love the meals and the ability to filter by various types. The app used to be one of my favorite apps and one of the reasons Dinnerly was better than the other service. But something changed in the last week in the app. The app now only works in portrait mode. I use a keyboard case for my iPad and prefer apps in landscape mode. Please make Dinnerly available in landscape mode age.
I had a subscription for over a year. At first everything was wonderful! I really enjoyed the meals and trying new foods! Then I started getting a few bad produce items or an item would be missing. I didn’t think it was a big deal at first. It was easy enough to report the issue and get a credit for my next delivery. However then the boxes started coming with the ice packs punctured and leaking all over everything. Even the bottom of the box would be soggy when it got to me. I had to rinse everything off to be able to use anything. I didn’t feel safe consuming whatever gel like substance was used in their cold packs. I also got boxes where all the produce was bad, and it just seemed like there was always a problem. Then my last 2 boxes were the last straw for me. I got a message that my box was delayed by a day. When I received it, all the food was warm and completely unusable. I tried to contact support and they only gave me a partial credit, again on my next delivery. The next box I received was even worse! It was delayed as well, but It seems like the ice packs leaked again and the box broke. FedEx had to repackage the box. Again everything was warm and unusable, but this time everything was also completely crushed and just a general mess! At this point I knew that I couldn’t continue to go around in circles with them. I was just going to have to accept the loss and stop the cycle (since they only give credits for future orders). I just canceled my subscription. I would tell anyone thinking of trying this service to think twice! There are a lot of options for meal kits out there and, at this time, this is not a good one!
The number of tasty vegetarian recipes is surprising and really great. My delivery is always on time and they very rarely forget an ingredient, however ingredients don’t always last till the end of the week so if you’re ordering 4 meals a week like I am, don’t wait till Sunday to make the last one. The app is a little bare-bones. Pictures for each step would be very welcome. Also, the meal prep almost always takes longer than the app predicts. All that said, Dinnerly is great, give it a try!
Meals are on time. Food is fresh. Recipes are tasty. Cooking instructions are clear.
1) it would be nice to have a general questions/comments page in the app. 2) We have an air fryer now. It would be nice to have some alternative cooking options on recipes. Maybe a toggle switch so you can choose on different recipes. Depending on the recipe it could be choosing between the stove or air, oven or grill, oven or air. The ingredients shouldn’t be any different so it would just take a little reworking of recipes and some programming. A nice perk that wouldn’t cost much to provide.
Customer service was absolutely awful and I wasn’t impressed by the food options.
As a college kid you think meal services are to expensive than came Dinnerly. After having over meal services while back home while parents were paying I can say the taste is absolutely on par with great instructions that make cooking easy. Instead of paying $70-$100 a week on going out or fast food get Dinnerly and enjoy some great tasting home cooked meals. Perfect portions as well
Why do I need to download another app to find out when my shipment is arriving? I’d also give this subscription more stars if they were better about dietary restrictions and substitutions, also if it had a better UI, but I imagine that factors into cost. Hungryroot is better in those aspects, but is also twice as expensive. Is what it is.
Many of the settings/menu pages open up to a blank white page, so I have no choice but to use the website to make any edits.
