Grim can only befriend the dead, so he decided to unleash a great flood and drag the sheep under. Now stranded on small islands and sinking fast, the sheep need you to help them reach safety. It plays similar to classic counting games with dark humor where you need to cross a road or river, and can't have specific combinations of sheep, wolves, etc on the same raft. Here though the results are intentionally filled with gore and blood (unless you turn it off in the settings). It's a funny, dark math puzzle game. You save the little animals by solving clever math puzzles. Divide By Sheep is a game of addition and subtraction by any means possible, where puzzles start off fairly easy and playful, yet quickly escalate in both difficulty and dark humor. I don't remember what I paid for it, but having casually played it for about a week, I definitely don't regret buying it and recommend it to anyone who like puzzle/strategy games. The game is challenging, beautiful, and fun. It's a part puzzle game, part strategy game, and fully awesome. The graphics are cute and quirky, and are reminiscent of games like Cut the Rope or Tiny Wings. However, this game is more challenging than it may appear and brilliantly juxtaposes it's bright colored lollipop cuteness with a comically gruesome gameplay mechanic. At the time of this review, there are 5 levels with 30 stages each. Although I have yet to complete all the levels, I'd love to see more available soon. I'd be more than happy to pay $.99 or so per new level, as it's clear that a lot of time and thought was put into this game, and I really appreciate that. I do have two small critics, however. Firstly, in my experience, the stages in each level don't seem to progress in difficulty—the last few stages aren't the most difficult ones of each level. Although it may be a conscious decision made by the developers, I'm guessing it was due to the introduction of new gameplay mechanics throughout each level. As a new gameplay mechanic is introduced, the stage which introduces it is made intentionally easy in order to illustrate the behavior of the mechanic. This brings me to the second critique—before a new gameplay mechanic is introduced, there is a screen with illustration which acts as a "tutorial" for the new element. However, as adorable as those illustrations are, they are not a good method of teaching how the new element behaves. They do an adequate job at best, and at worst mislead the user (which I found to be the case with the bouncing float with two arrows). If there is a proper way tutorial to introduce these new elements and mechanics, it would eliminate the need to have stupid-easy levels which throw of the pace and the progression of difficulty throughout the level, and they would greatly aid in better understanding and ultimately better player experience.
