## DIY Lake Science Description
DIY Lake Science, funded by NSF, allows families and educators to investigate and learn about lakes and other freshwater ecosystems at home, at school, or anywhere you go! Developed by UC Berkeley’s The Lawrence Hall of Science.

HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES
Includes a dozen, easy to use, hands-on activities to learn about freshwater ecosystems. Each activity includes step-by-step instructions that have been tested by educators, kids, and families. The activity materials are widely available and inexpensive—you probably have many of them in your home.

UNDER THE LAKE
Want to explore what happens under a lake's surface? In the Under the Lake simulation, you can explore a process called lake mixing and how lakes change across the seasons, in different climates, and for different lake sizes.

VIDEOS
View collections of videos of lakes and other freshwater ecosystems around the world! Learn about the plants and animals that live in lakes and other bodies of water, the scientists who study freshwater ecosystems, and how people can care for lakes.

## DIY Lake Science Reviews in United States

### ***** "Great science app!!"
This app is a wonderful tool to teach people of all ages about the importance of preserving our ecosystems and lakes. Through a polished user interface, DIY Lake Science provides informative videos and step by step activities perfect for anyone to do at home. Anyone can learn a lot from this app!

### ***** "Watershed science for kids and parents"
Nice graphics, solid science, and great videos; I downloaded this for my 8 year old to help reinforce why we need to conserve water at home here in CA. He liked the "under the lake" interactive and water/storm sounds. I like the family-friendly videos all in one place and stuff you can do at home. Great for teaching about watersheds.

### ***** "Fantastic app for lake science education"
The simulation, videos, activities and organization of this app make it perfect for anyone trying to teach about lake science (limnololgy) and to get kids excited about their local fresh water resources.
-- heathems, 2015-05-22

### ***** "Take a dive into DIY Lake!"
This is a perfect supplement for elementary classrooms studying freshwater ecosystems. I love the 'explore' lake water temperature simulator and the detailed explanations provided in the complementary 'learn' component. A provided collection of short videos will keep learners engaged in self-directed inquiry. The suggested experiments are clearly explained. This app is an outstanding!

### ***** "Wonderful science app!"
Terrific activities, videos, and interactive lake segment. Freshwater education is all the more important in light of the recent west coast drought.
