DNA2Tree analyzes your AncestryDNA test results using the techniques of genetic genealogy to help you build your birth family tree.

The four main functions of DNA2Tree are:
1) Loads DNA Matches
2) Finds Common Ancestors
3) Analyzes DNA Color Clusters
4) Builds Birth Family Tree

Especially useful for:
• Adoptees trying to build their birth family tree
• Genealogists trying to fill in gaps in their family tree

DNA2Tree has three subscription options:
• 1 Month for $19.99
• 6 Months for $89.99 = $14.99/month
• 12 Months for 119.99 = $9.99/month
All functionality in the DNA2Tree app is available during each subscription period.

Logged into one Ancestry account, and was able to download matches and perform clustering - worked as described. Tried a second login (to use a different tester’s kit, to get their matches) and the app crashed. Tried the usual steps (logging out and back in, powering off the iPad, unloading and reloading the app), none worked.  Emailed the developer directly to get some suggestions, no response.

Do not waste your money on this tool. It does nothing for you that a copy and past from ancestry will give you. You can’t even download the strings of matches from this tool into a file that you can use in a spreadsheet. All the other tools did not work with my data.

Tried again the next day and have only gotten errors since. Waste of money. Only got one star because you have to click a star. No support for this app.

The information about the app neglects to say that purchase of a subscription is required, starting at $19.99 a month, discounted slightly for multiple months purchased together. I think this should be noted up front. It looks like a free app. It is not a free app.

It appears this app stopped working after ancestry updated their website. I emailed the developers a week ago and have not gotten a response, and nothing has changed in the app. The app will no longer find common ancestors and doesn’t seem to be loading any tree information when you load matches.  I think one of the main issues is that an end longer has pages of matches, but instead it just keeps loading matches in batches on the same page. The app doesn’t seem to know how to manage this or get any data from the matches. Don’t waste your money at this point, the app is useless.

It was not explained that you have to have a paid Ancestry account to use the app. I paid for a month subscription for this app and it’s now wasted. Since I’m able to see all my DNA matches on Ancestry without a paid account I did not think it would affect the app.
