There is no magic: every speaker, microphone, cellphone, spy bug, hidden camera has in itself a magnetic field: iPhones are equipped with a magnetometer (used by the compass), dontspy can read the data captured by the magnetometer and it report the presence of the magnetic field emitted by spy bugs, cellphones, microphones, metal object, other devices that emit magnetic field, and report it. Just press start and the app will notify you when you are close to the object you are searching for.

It says press start but it does not start

This does not work, only picks up magnetic field from an stereo amplifier but nothing from a phone for example or other device unless there is metal in it affecting the compass in your device. This should be baned on app store, because it’s a fraud. You are only seeing effects from compass being influenced by magnets. UPDATE : As you see the developer claims it works and to contact them, so I did and asked them to explain what sensor in a phone is supposed to pick up spy devices, seeing that is done with radio signal scanners which are not in phones, I obviously never got a reply to my message, apple should be ashamed to allow frauds like this on app store and force them to refund everyone that ever paid for this fake app!!!!
