Great game. I’ve played it through a bunch. This review is posted only temporarily, until the game works again. I’m hoping! Crashes 1 sec into opening the app. Every time, no exceptions. OK, developer, what’s up?
Great game, can tell a lot of time and effort was put into it! Only issue I have is crashing (iOS). It does have an auto-save, but I definitely recommend hitting every “save” crystal you come across as well so you don’t lose much progress.
I got this version to get rid of the ads played the lite version and it worked fine.
Finally picked this up because I had been waiting for an update to support iPhone X and larger screens. So when I saw there was an update there weeks ago that said it was adding that support, I immediately bought it. But this app isn’t updated. Still same boxed in format it always has been. Doesn’t even extend the controls (ie, you can still see the time, etc on the screen). Not a happy customer!
Lots of fun
I had such a great time playing this game. After having finished the whole thing I am now working on a few endgame things for fun. I really do hope they make another one. I put a solid 70 hours into this game and that ranks it up there with some of the best rpgs I’ve played. Graphics are fun and it just hits a lot of the right spots. I wish the map was more interactive. But that’s really about my only complaint. Keeping my fingers crossed for a third title!!!
Great new entry. I love the control update. Same humor and satire. Good balance of new mechanics while keeping it easy to pick up right after the first game. You don’t have to play the original but it’s also well worth a go too.
This game completely blows the original out of the water. If that game was basically a goofy homage to classic jrpgs, this game is an evolution of them instead, with interesting and fun new mechanics. The class changes are a welcome addition along with all the aesthetic options for your characters. My biggest complaint would be that it’s a tad too easy to select the wrong option in battle. If you swipe too quickly, the game will register it as a tap and cause you to do the wrong actions. Maybe an option to separate the sides of the screen a la the original would have been nice, although for navigation it’s still an improvement to be able to control the game one handed. All in all this is a turn based rpg that no fan of the genre should ignore.
I bought this because I really liked the humor of the first one. This still has some of the humor, but there too many things I’m not liking. The combat system feels streamlined, same as gear and actions, but not necessarily for the better. It takes choice and control out of the player’s hands. Yes while you can still decide if you want Cleave instead of Double Slice as your hero’s options, it relegates it to some sidebar function, like an afterthought. The switch of putting the order of players on the right side of the screen instead of the usual left is annoying and adds nothing to gameplay other than trying to be different. Same as pressing on screen for x seconds to bring up menu. The swipes were fine, why change? Everytime u put ur finger on the screen, the menu popped up or the map would. Also the humor is constantly hampered by the typos and misspelling, and hackneyed jokes. I can’t begin to count the amount of misspelling. Did they outsource this to China? I wanted to like this, but it was only meh. This lacked the freshness and irreverence of the first game.
