The dott app recently replaced another e-scooter service (TIER) in my city. It is a step backwards.

The biggest problem with dott is their awful support. 

A scooter broke down on me while riding. This happens from time to time and is unavoidable if you ride often, as other people don't always treat them with much care. In such cases, getting a refund was straightforward in the TIER app. 

Unfortunately, dott makes this process as difficult as possible.

The only support option is a chat bot within their app. You diligently answer its questions and at some point it either stops responding (yes, ghosted by a chat bot) or it promises to connect you with a real support agent, which  never actually happens.

This issue is compounded by problems in the main interface of the app. For example, a button with a chat icon (for support!?) overlaps with the "scan to ride" button. As a result, the chat icon can not be pressed at all. To be fair, you can also find the support chat via the menu under "Help & legal", but there it is certainly less prominent.

The combination almost makes me suspect that these are deliberate design choices. Perhaps they want to discourage users from requesting refunds. It certainly worked on me.

Needless to say, this whole process does not inspire confidence. I wonder what would happen if you needed to contact them after a more serious problem, like an accident or to sort out an insurance claim.

So far so good. Not much has changed, other than having to resubmit your payment option.  Plus having to take a picture when parking the device. For the trouble, 20 mins free, everyday for the first week or something like that.

Honestly I never write reviews but this company makes a true effort to create the number one worse customer support experience I’ve ever seen, (and I’m a UX designer) they implement a basic 2019 bot and think that it’s doing any help, 
Your creating frustration and stealing money from customers who can’t get a refund or lock your poor quality scooters. Lime bird or any alternative would be much better.

Using iPhone 13 Pro. Some credit cards don’t work. QR scanner doesn’t focus on the code no matter what you do. credit card scanner doesn’t read so manual input is the only way. Scooters are great. The phone holder on scooters are very good and strong.

The people who run this service don’t understand that you actually need to get places. They throttle your speed for most of the trip and you have to park it in the right zones. It becomes a liability and WILL NOT GET YOU WHERE YOU NEED TO GO. I missed the event I flew across the Atlantic for because I thought I could take one of these 3kms. Then it shut off on me and left me stranded. On top of that they charged me a euro for parking it in the wrong area even though it wouldn’t move. Terrible nanny tech that will screw you over.

Bike is under-powered, very heavy and difficult to manoeuvre, seat doesn’t adjust so can’t get leverage on the pedals. 
Also, charged me for my first ride and then the app said “Looks like you owe us £1.68 for a previous ride.” I’ve NEVER used these bikes before!

The app told me I had plenty of battery for my journey. The App then tells me that the bike is out of battery, which was true. The app did not allow me to transfer my promo over to another ride. I lost my money. Also going uphill I had to stand up as there was no motor assist.
