### ***** "A godsend"
For me and my use case Downcast is a real godsend. After Apple axed iTunes and replaced it with separate applications, I lost the ability to sync custom audio (or video) files to my phone as podcasts. Downcast to the rescue: as far as I know it is the only podcast app supporting File Sharing directly from your computer. Other apps either do not cater to this somewhat niche need, or require a subscription to access similar (but limited) functionality.

Now I can keep listening to my quirky collection of more-or-less podcasts. Thank you!

P.S. Note that this way you can also listen to audiobooks using Downcast. Much better experience than Apple's Books app, in my opinion.

I have been using Downcast for a long time, both on IOS and OSX (disclaimer: I am an unpaid beta tester who can be very critical and discovers issues).

It is true the softrware has suffered a little recently, but the one-man developer is burning the midnight oil and paddling rapidly behind the scenes and some “good news” will emerge in the near future.  If everything goes according to plan, the software will be even stronger and have better foundations to take it forward.

It is still capable of doing what it promises. The sync will get better I’ve been told (the issue is Apple’s technology, but the sync method will be changed to something more reliable).

For a good podcast app, this is worth a try. I cannot comment on the iWatch latest gizmo though.
