Useless
It can’t tell the difference between a walk or a train ride and driving, and therefore requires every trip outside the house to be manually classified. Even a basic AI should be able to tell this.

I always get harshly marked down for ‘Road Risk’, which I find extremely unfair as that is just the area I live in and I can’t help that. I always drive below the speed limit and never have any sudden breaks yet I get harshly marked down on ‘smooth driving’. I even get marked down for ‘time of day’ for when I drive past 17:00 which is ridiculous because that’s when most people finish work. I get told by the app to drive alternative routes to go on safer roads when a lot of the time the roads I drive on are 20mph!!!!!!!! And it would be a massive inconvenience to take an extra long route and probably more dangerous if anything because I would be on the road for longer and on an unfamiliar route! Also I get marked down for listening to music in the car which I find so so stupid because if anything music is probably safer that listening to radio and you’d get more distracted trying to listen to people talk about politics or something. Terrible app, I hate it so much and so does everyone else by the looks of the reviews. Also I forgot to mention how when i come home after a drive, it keeps recording that i’m driving for another 5 minutes and then marks me down for being on my phone. It also marks me down for using a GPS on my phone too whilst driving which is stupid because it’s more unsafe if i don’t know where i’m driving and just guessing.
The app is absolutely useless. Never have I ever tried so hard to get my logins approved when my insurance hits tomorrow. The app is not logging in my details even though everything is correct. How does one go about this. I’ve reset my password. Rebooted my phone. Reinstalled the app. It’s a joke
I was shopping and returned to car and as I was waiting for a friend I paced carpark and walked 0.1mile in 6mins and made some calls. Once home I hit I was driving on all trips and looked at my scores. I was astounded to see I had achieved a score of 36 for my walk in carpark and it had penalised me for using my phone and told me I needed to be easier on my braking and acceleration. It had been 2.5hrs since I had been inside a car so my last journey had finished recording ages ago and I hadn’t even put my keys in the ignition. WATCH HOW YOU WALK 🤣. It’s so ridiculous but sadly once you hit I was driving and then see the details you can do nothing.
It seems extremely strict on some categories, particularly the smooth driving. That just shoots up and down, and is particularly frustrating when you GENUINELY have to brake hard, and it assumes that’s you just coming to a stop and braking far too harshly. Also, the fact that journeys automatically register as if you were driving if you don’t do it manually within three days is pretty irritating. I understand there may be no other way to resolve this other than make all journeys require you to register them all yourself, which could be a hassle, but I take the train to university and if I forget to open the app, it reckons I was driving and thus my score (again, particularly smooth driving) zips down into the red zone. Mine typically sticks to the bottom/middle of the green, say 80, 85, but if I don’t use the app for a few days (during which I take the train, get lifts from other people, etc) all my scores shoot down and then I have to consciously drive very robotically and also ensure that I consciously open the app and register the journey after every single drive, regardless of its distance or length.
Received a letter saying I had not downloaded this app and insurance is due to be cancelled. I’ve downloaded the app and it is tracking my driving. Unable to speak with anyone from drive sure over the weekend. Reports I’m using my phone when playing music through Bluetooth in the car and the phone is not in use. Also really slow and often unable to confirm I’m driving for a while. Emailed Churchill and hoping the issues in the letter will be rectified. Again received a message to say insurance is going to be cancelled, logged into Churchill to find a message stating I haven’t downloaded the DriveSure app. Unable to get any help with this over the weekend. The app is working and logging my driving yet getting a message to say my insurance policy is going to be cancelled. Not worth the stress having this, will not be renewing my policy with Churchill.
The scoring is mental - I use google maps as my sat nav which goes through Apple car play, same for playing music. My phone can be in my boot and I am scored negatively for mobile interaction. Same for phone calls when I don’t even touch my phone - question though - how is speaking to someone on the phone any different to speaking to a passenger in the car? Road risks are understandable however I can’t stop driving where I live and surely if your driving on the road there is always a risk of accident Will not be renewing with them next year, unfortunately I am at the start of my insurance period
Shocking app, based on factors that are out of my control and are extremely in accurate. Most of the time states that I have harsh acceleration and braking but doesn’t even state when and where this occurs as I don’t do neither of them! I’ve moved to this company from another blackbox company and haven’t changed my driving which I was getting excellent scores for the same categories. I go down 10 points for risky area just from leaving my house and can’t avoid that no matter what. The time of day factor is ridiculous really especially when you have no choice over the times you need to do things. If I had of read all of the 1 star reviews I would not of gone with this insurance company!
It feels unfair that you get scored down for using google maps on your phone. I set my route before I start driving and have it in the holder without touching it for the journey. I also ride my bike far more than drive and having to remember to correct all of the journeys that the app thinks are driving for an entire year will be a slog!
Where to start … It only haphazardly records journeys. I was being driven in a friends car for 2 hours on the motorway at c70 mph and nothing even came through (appreciate i would have said I was a passenger) Yet it tried to record me strolling around the fields in my village at c2 mph! When it does record journeys, a “known fault” with i phones means it records 0 miles although the map shows the travel. As a result the recordings don’t update your score. Finally, making effectively the same journey , i time I was scored 1 for the roads (seen as dangerous roads) and the other time was scored 100 (safe roads) Pointless!
