Drops is immensely demotivating to use for learning, mainly due to the “freemium” practices utilized by the app. I forgot the words I had learned because of the fact that you have to pay to actually learn and I stopped using the app for months. Find another way to learn, because this app is not it. Scummy business practices from a scummy lackluster app that doesn’t seek to educate, but seeks to take your money.
I’ve tried all manner of learning japanese from listening to videos to reading to flash cards, and none of it helped me as much as this app! The repetition and variety is great! I only wish it were more receptive to coming back into a language after a few years. Once you’ve mastered a section, you can’t easily go back to relearn it or refresh.
Helps you figure out what you want to learn and also makes sure they are remembered by bringing them up a lot

the audio lags, one word behind. at first i thought this was intended to be an extra challenge, but it happens when the new word relies on audio identification-- which new word's audio winds up over-ridden by the prior word's audio repetition. sometimes you get the first syllable and can extrapolate but it's really annoying and does not seem to relent. if that were fixed, six stars.

Drops has the potential to be an excellent program. The graphics are a lot of fun for those of us who are visual learners. My hope is that Drops will listen to its users when we tell them what would make the app even more helpful, especially the ones of us who are supporting with paid subscriptions. What upsets me most are the very basic errors I’m finding with grammar. I’m using it to expand my skills after two years of college Spanish, and I’m troubled by how many errors in grammar a not-that-advanced user like me can spot. Do they not have at least one native Spanish speaker on staff to proof content? C’mon guys!
Been using Drops for a few months and love it! The game format is simple and engaging, and the five minute limit in the free version makes it easy not to procrastinate a learning session. With the last update, however, it will no longer log me in and requires me to set up a Google or Facebook login. No! Just let me get back in and continue where I left off.
