2022年，中宣部等部门联合在全国遴选60家市级融媒体中心建设试点单位，烟台市入选试点城市。2022年12月31日，烟台市融媒体中心（烟台传媒集团）挂牌成立，其中建设自主可控传播平台是重要的融合试点内容。
烟海e家APP是烟台市融媒体中心倾力打造的全媒体资讯服务平台，定位为“主流舆论阵地、综合服务平台、社区信息总枢纽”，以“用户思维、技术引领、做强服务、福利惠民”为运营方针，以“新闻+政务服务商务”为运营模式，建设“信息资讯平台、社交平台、生活服务平台”，打造“共建共创、利益共享、共同成长”平台型生态系统，更加突出用户参与，更加突出客户端的可用性、互动性。
内容方面，依托中心的采编力量，以用户为中心，深耕本地，突出原创内容，新闻与服务相融合，加大视频内容供应量，在时政新闻、民生新闻方面做突破。未来，将进一步突出互动性、参与性和视频化、智能化。
2024年，烟海e家全力由新闻APP向城市超级APP转型升级，打造“信息服务商、政务服务商、生活服务商、产业服务商”，聚焦本地生活，构建面向本地的互联网生态系统，助推智慧城市、数字城市建设。
构建“统一支付”服务体系建设，通过支付功能的优化与拓展，实现消费券发放、在线商城运营、社区团购等多种服务模式的高效联动，为用户打造便捷、安全、高效的在线交易环境。在线商城功能，聚焦、发力本地生活，打造基于本地场景的城市APP+企业的交易生态，整合本地商户资源与服务，构建起为市民提供更丰富、更便宜、更便捷的一站式生活服务平台，满足不同市民的差异化需求。在线商城系统与融媒体平台实现无缝对接，强化了信息传播的即时性与广泛性，用户在享受购物便利的同时，也能轻松获取到最新的政策资讯、本地新闻及各类实用信息。
未来，烟海e家还将不断丰富应用场景，推出直通社区功能，参与智慧社区建设。平台将提供社区管理、便民信息发布、在线交易、店铺展示等功能，打通社会基层治理“最后一公里”。
