Also available are some "locked" resources which must be purchased from their publisher. These are copyright and licensing requirements which are unavoidable.

Fast, accurate searching, with excellent free and very reasonably priced add ons, so that all can enjoy thejr bibles of choice. Free Strong's Concordance that one can have open for quick reference to Hebrew amd Greek, alongside your chosen bible. Personal note taking amd highlighting. Privacy conscious, it does not collect and share your data and searches, as so many, if not all other well featured options do.
This was one of the first bible apps ever available, and has greatly improved over the years and to me, for all the above reasons and more, is currently the best app available.

I have used the desktop version of esword on computer for many years,I have just bought and downloaded the mobile version and I have to say it’s EXCELLENT! Really good value for money and not expensive at all.

Perfect except…
Would give it 5 stars if Rick the developer would allow the user the ability to also select multiple verses for the Tag function as with the Highlight version. Please Rick. We know you can do it! 😎
Cross referencing
I have used e-sword for years (windows version) and its good bible study tool. However the iPhone version doesn’t come with cross referencing as standard.

If you are looking for a good Bible app, look no further. E-sword is the best of them all in terms of value, functionality, fast, easy to find the relevant information, ease of use, readability, amount of resources included.
It is just excellent. Of all the Bible apps I have on my cellphone, this is the one I use most.
I also appreciate the desktop program very much which is offered freely as a ministry to the Christian community. Thank you to all who makes this possible.
Just getting better
I have used E-Sword when it was a Windows only product and now use the iPad version exclusively. It is the most comprehensive, informative, educational and insightful Bible tool that I have ever come across. It goes with me wherever I go, Internet or not. Thank you to Rick and the team, my God bless you all richly.
Highlight function
I used to be able to copy and highlight parts of text in devotions. It’s sad that I cannot fo this anymore. The app is definitely not what it used to be. It often freezes which then forces me to close and open the app again. Not as stable as it used to be.
Syncing, Saving notes, highlights etc
Still a mission to ensure that all notes and highlights are saved. App does not sync properly across devices ( iphone and macbook). New version freezes. Sometimes does not select text to highlight or does not highlight the selected colour.
This makes buying an iPad worthwhile
Whilst I use my iPad for so many useful things, this program is unbelievable. I absolutely love it I am astounded by the vast amount of resources so easily available and user friendly.
