Description

eCPTED uses industry standards and best practice techniques to assist users in conducting a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) assessment of their residence, office, storage, manufacturing, house of worship or other physical location. eCPTED is specifically designed for any user over the age of 18 who owns or rents a location where safety and security are major concerns. eCPTED analyzes data entered by the user from a detailed questionnaire to generate a score in each of the four fundamental CPTED categories as well as an overall CPTED score. These scores are continuously displayed at the top of the app window and are color coded red, yellow and green so the user can quickly and easily identify areas of particular concern. These scores are calculated and will change with each answer submitted by the user. eCPTED also analyzes the user input to identify improvements which may help reduce the potential incidents of criminal behavior / activity at that location. When the user completes the questionnaire, a CPTED report can be download or emailed to a specified address. The CPTED report contains descriptions of the four fundamental CPTED categories as well as recommendations to improve the security of the user’s operating environment. Users may also download or email as many copies of the report as desired.
eCPTED puts security expertise of professionals with decades of CPTED and physical security experience into the hands of users who are most-intimately acquainted with a specific location and does it for about 1% of the cost of paying a security professional to conduct the assessment on-site. This app is particularly useful for any person or organization that has clear physical security needs, but not a large security budget to spend. To use eCPTED, the user first downloads the app, registers their information and purchases an annual site-specific license subscription. Users can purchase a single license for one location or multiple licenses to allow for assessing large complexes or multiple sites which are operated
by the user. Depending upon the number of licenses purchased by the user, a quantity discount may be automatically applied. After registration and purchase of the license subscription, users then enter specific location information about the site to be assessed. Once entered, this location data cannot be changed by the user and the license is then permanently assigned to that specific site. The user can
change existing answers or conduct complete reassessments of any of their locations for which a subscription license has been purchased as many times as desired during that subscription period without incurring any additional cost. This will enable the user to see how implementing recommendations will improve their scores over time. Some users may be able to take the resulting CPTED report to their home or business insurance company to negotiate for a reduction in their
insurance premiums, which enables the use of the app to pay for itself over time.
