Edit is a super fast scratchpad for your thoughts, drafts, and notes. Think of it as a single sheet of paper, not a notebook. There's no document storage, because whatever you leave in Edit will be there when you get back. Once you're done writing, you can send or save your text to anywhere in iOS via the Share Sheet.
What's in the box?
* One page
Return instantly to what you were writing.
* One-touch select all
Effortlessly clear the page to start fresh.
* Export
Send your text to anywhere in iOS.
* Word and character count
Know how much you've written.
I've intentionally kept Edit simple so it stays fast and easy to maintain. The other benefit of this simplicity is that Edit should continue to run without issue on iOS devices for years to come. Because of that, I'm slapping a 10-year good faith guarantee on Edit's general availability. Should there come a time over the next decade where I'm unable to update Edit to run on the latest version of iOS, I'll open source the code for anyone to download and run themselves.
Happy writing,
K.Q. @Dreger

Edit FAQ
Is Edit free?
Yes, Edit is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Edit legit?
✅ The Edit app appears to be high-quality and legitimate. Users are very satisfied.
There’s one thing we all need to do today:
1. A list
2. An email
3. A plan or proposal
Edit offers a distraction-free spot and pleasant place to type, tinker, and then copy, delete and put the text where it goes.
I also use and love Drafts. But this is for the one thing that I really need to write now. (Like a review)
Home Screen Fixture
I’ve had this app on my home screen since I stumbled (good luck finding it in the App Store using “edit”, “scratchpad”, “notepad”, etc) across it 4-5 years ago and still works on my 15 Pro. Simple app that upon opening is ready to capture thoughts via keyboard or voice. No tapping “new note”, or going to a special notebook or page - just start entering data like you would with a paper notepad. Unlike a paper pad, you can select any part (or the whole screen) of entered data and send it to a contact or app. I use Edit as my GTD Inbox - quickly jot down stuff. Then when I have time I review and send a particular item or the whole screen to the right app (e.g., my calendar, task app, journal, etc) for final processing. No in-app purchases, no review requests, no ads - which is pretty refreshing these days!
RTL support
If only it had RTL support and adjustments per line depending on language LTR RTL
Yes!
Thrilled about this app. Exactly what I needed! I love iA writer for macOS but it’s a little slow on the draw in iOS. This app fills the gap and *yes* it exports .txt files to Files or Dropbox! 🙏🏾
Hire this developer
To make an app so simple, and yet so useful, is an indication to where the developer’s skills are tailored. This is an app i use almost daily to temporarily hold my clipboard and also often when composing written pieces that pull from multiple sources, due to its ease of use and, again, the simplicity. This app stays on page 1 of my home screen.
Does not work on iPhone 5
Purchased but won't download. Running iOS 10.3.4 I hope the developer will fix.
The Only One (Xr?)
This app is perfectly minimal, and has a permanent place on my home screen.
I recently upgraded to an iPhone Xr, though, and I can see that the app is blown up from iPhone X resolution. Will you update to address this, KQ?
A model citizen
This is practically the platonic ideal of an app: using a phone to save you a little bit of trouble (carrying paper/pen in your pocket) without sucking you into a vortex of time wasting possibilities. And the ten year guarantee seems entirely attainable given the program’s simplicity. Failing that, there is the pledge to release the source in the event of premature abandonment, a noble principle which I hope to see more broadly adopted.
Simple—I love it! Just one request
Could the app use San Francisco font instead? Or even a small selection of built-in fonts?
Almost Great- but it flashes with every hit of return or movement to a new line
I purchased this so I could type in night mode to get down ideas that come to me in the night for my work. As an artist this is a key part of my process. This app seemed like the answe. It’s so close to being great- the only problem is the white text flashes every time you hit return! This also happens when you fill a line of text and your curses moves to the next line pushing all the text up and at that moment the whole page flashes. This strobing effect is startling and takes me out of the flow. I would kindly ask the developer to please fix this and I’d be happy to give it 5 stars.Thank you!
