Description

Eggy Alphabet is an educational application designed to help children learn the Alphabet.
When learning the alphabet, young children need to learn each letter’s name and its sound, the shape of the letter and how to create it correctly when writing. Research shows that knowing the alphabet, especially the sound and shape of each letter, is a strong indicator for reading success in school.
The Eggy Alphabet App builds alphabet knowledge and handwriting skills in a comprehensive, educationally sound app that makes learning the alphabet memorable, highly interactive and full of fun rewards.
Eggy Alphabet covers both upper and lower case letters for each of the 26 letters of the alphabet. For each letter there are three handwriting activities that stress the correct formation of each letter. Another 2 activities build phonemic awareness and letter sound skills. When learning to form each letter, children use a finger to trace and draw each letter.
Eggy Alphabet is brought to you by the makers of popular educational website Reading Eggs – a team of educators with more than 20 years’ experience in early childhood education, who believe learning to read should be fun, motivating, and full of success.
Eggy Alphabet includes the following features:
- All 26 letters of the alphabet.
- 4 activites to be completed for every letter.
- Upper and lower case versions of letters.
- A total of 208 activities to complete plus The Letter Game.
- Choice of accents – Australia, English, United States.
- 3 difficulty levels - Egg ratings to be earned for every level.
- 18 wonderful Egg Critters to unlock and hatch.

When I try to get all 18 critters it gets reset back to 0 which means it’s impossible to get all 18 critters

Frustration Station!

I want to purchase an app like this for my classroom rotation activity - Technology Table - I love that the user can self-review the "draw the letter" function. However the "trace the letter" function is abysmally sensitive! I have perfect handwriting and still get yelled at by the egg. Must be either removed or improved. I cannot allow this app, in its current state, to destroy my students' confidence at this crucial phase of their literacy education.

Very usable; A good start but hardest level is too sensitive

It's a good start for letter recognition and beginning writing skills. My son enjoys all of his "Eggy" apps and loves working on his Reading Eggs account online but this app became just a little difficult as we increased the difficulty settings to hard. Even I couldn't write properly according to the app and it's just too discouraging there. I downloaded and used it fine to an iPad mini 2 but it wouldn't open at all on my iphone 6 plus. Also, we have no idea where the internal app upgrade is inside the app as there was no extra feature. It looked a complete app as is so I can only assume the advertisement here is wrong? So If you want to stick with this app, we found it ok if we used either easy or medium setting but if your child wants to master early writing using the iPad or iPhone I'd suggest Writing Wizard even though it's $8 Aus as you can even print off worksheets. Don't be discouraged though, this app is still great and will work fine if you keep the difficulty settings right for you. Just don't bother with "hard".

Disappointing

The tracing part is so pedantic and then says bad luck. I ended up doing it for my child and even I got a bad luck. Very disappointing when it is already difficult to see what you are tracing over when you use your finger.

Disappointing

I wish i had read the other reviews befire purchasing this app. The tracing is far to hard and hearing 'bad luck' over and over is not encouraging. The reading eggs game on pc is fantastic but this app is a waste of money

So frustrating the dot to dot

I can't believe it constantly says bad luck if it's not absolutely perfect! Are you serious?! I want my money back!

Critters

My 4 year old LOVEs this app, however I am really disappointed that for him to be rewarded with a certain 'critter' they have to play the app for 30 or 60 minutes. Considering this is an educational app it really shouldn't be encouraging young children to be playing for that length of time.

Worst review I've given for an App

This App is such a disappointment. Like being in a class with a boring, critical, pedantic teacher. The negativity and monotony of 'bad luck, bad luck' is frustrating to listen to and I'm not even playing it. My 4 yr old does a darn good job of tracing over the clouds or leaves or dot to dot. But she lifts her finger up, turns a corner a little too sharply and it's not 'try again' but 'bad luck'? She covers all the images with her trace, does it within the shadow, it looks like the letter and still 'bad luck?' I'm so close to deleting but am hoping it will be rectified as does have some promise. Download 'Writing Wizard' for your child instead to practice their letters; now that's a great (and fun) app!
