Configured WiFi to only 2.4, tried several times, resetting the kettle, turning off and on, etc… and the app still won’t update. It’s not clear whether or not the kettle is actually connected to WiFi. Every time the app tries updating it says after awhile it hasn’t been in contact with the kettle. This is not how the user experience of a “premium” product should be.

If you’re going to produce an app. You need to make sure that it works. Just don’t throw something out there. Mine keeps saying that it’s not connecting to the kettle or rather the kettle is not connecting to the app. In troubleshooting it tells me to delete and reinstall the app. I did and doesn’t help.

Like other have posted, this app has one function which is to allow the Stagg EKG Pro Kettle to update, but accomplishing this one function seems to be next to impossible. Despite doing everything that is recommended, leave Kettle plugged in for 24 hours, delete kettle on app and add again, delete the app completely and then download again and add the kettle again, I have still been unable to update my Kettle. Very frustrating user experience.

Not being dramatic as one dude who got it to work labeled unfavorable reviews, bottom line is the app connects (or maybe connects), says it’s updating then says it hasn’t heard from the kettle in a while - with no way to then connect and check other than deleting and starting again.  I’ll leave it plugged in overnight but fairly certain this is a bust.

Tried multiple times to use the app to update unsuccessfully. Followed the basic trouble shooting provided on the Fellow site and still did not work. Would be nice to be able to update the firmware but at least the kettle is usable without the updates. If new updates come that allow more controls of the kettle, then this would be even more horrible. But at this time, it just seems I do not get other languages.

This worked only after I spent a long time trying to connect thru the Fellow app (which counterintuitively) only works with their Aiden coffee maker. But the Stagg’s product registration workflow led me to that app which, trust me, will not allow you to connect your Stagg Pro. 

So if you have a Stagg, use this EKG Updater app and you should be fine. You might have to temporarily set your Wifi to 2.4GHz, which took a minute to figure out. Fortunately I have eero which makes that pretty easy. 

Regardless, if you are having problems pairing your phone with the Stagg, you are not the problem. This app is not a no-brainer.

Everyone needs to chill out with their dramatic reviews of this app. This app does ONE thing which is to facilitate the software update of the firmware. It takes time. It took me overnight for the app to reflect that the kettle updated. No big deal because the kettle had the same functionality before the update as after the update. 

If this app was needed for remote functioning of the kettle, and that wasn’t working right away, sure that would be frustrating, but that’s not the case. You use and program the kettle only on the kettle.

So my advice to everyone is just tell the app to update the kettle and walk away. It’ll update eventually and doesn’t need the update right away for you to have full functionality of the kettle.

This one star is for the app experience NOT the kettle or the kettle UI and digital kettle experience.

I assume on the first go the app did what it should have? Connected kettle to WiFi, updated the kettle, etc.

When you go back into the app, it shows that the kettle needs to be updated, except the button UI to update does not work.

It would be great if besides updating the kettle (hence the name of the app) that the app actually functioned (timer, temp, schedule, etc!)

So many app devs looking for work, you could probably get this developed at a reasonable cost. C’mon Fellow, make this great product excellent!!
